Just noticed some changes to the Five News website.. They've taken Lara/Asha/Kate G etc off already and replaced them with some new names..
No mention of Matthew Wright there yet though.

why did 5 News lose all its babes? Natasha obviously doesn't count anymore.

At least Helen is still on there

For now - aren't they axing the lunchtime bulletin? If so, where exactly does Helen fit in on Five? Natasha and Matt have the 5pm bulletin covered, and for now Isla has the 7pm bulletin (presumably she will be freed up if she's not chosen to be Matthew's co-host), and with new evening and weekend update presenters I don't really see where Helen fits in!

P.S. I'm not saying she'll leave Sky, far from it. Simply that I can't see her new position on five Confused

Well she'd be due to go off on maternity leave soon presumably, so she's got a while to consider all the different options. Wink

it's sad to see a programme so utterly lose its way. A real shame.

I guess she will go back to reporting/relief presenting

Relief weekend presenter? I agree theres no obvious place for her anymore, sadly. Would be nice for her to do relief again on the 5 o'clcok bulletin as she used to

i dont get how they lose people like asha and then replace them at weekends with the guy who just did it before Minder. Nick wallace?? He must be the worst newsreader i've ever seen- and i'v watched a lot of news.

He looked like he was reading an eye chart at Dolland & Aitchison and horrifyingly seemed to smile in the wrong places. Shocked

I guess the likes of Phil Lavelle and Polly Whitehouse are far cheaper to employ than some one like Asha

it deffo seems cheaper. Polly's good actually IMO, but the weekend stuff I've seen is appalling in every way. I used to like the sport as well, and Five News was often the first place to see the day's events rounded up. No mention of sport anymore for some reason.

I don't know how that works. I don't know about Polly but Phil Lavel used to be on BBC London and I've seen him on BBC Breakfast and Sky so can't imagine he'd be "far cheaper" than Asha. In fact, didn't he used to do Five's updates years and years ago? I wouldn't have thought it was a question of cost.
I think the Five News updates are pretty good - they do what they say on the box. Short, snappy bursts of news which is what you would expect. In what way are they "appalling"?

IMO it's appalling to do a news bulletin and not mention things like today's rugby score.

And it must have changed due to cost. Where are the weekend pro's like Helen Fospero and Asha? It's obvious they've been replaced with lesser, lightweight faces. Polly's the only one i really rate from what i've seen.
