And to think a decade ago the original "5 News" was accused of dumbing down. That was innovative, informative and straight to the point - now it just seems to be morphing into Richard and Judy - without Richard or Judy!

I saw part of the bulletin and was offended. Deeply offended.

Permanent commentator anyone?

I refer you to Jacques 'Jacques' Liverot:

"An old man stands naked in front of a mirror, eating soup. He is a fool."

I agree. What a load of pish. I don't see why they changed it in the first place.

Well they have a "commentator" who will be there throughout the programme, strangely enough, to comment on things, or at least tonight anyway. Tonight's is Dominic Holland.

Hmm...seems like an idea from the old Scott Chisholm Show on the ITV News Channel...also, seemed a bit One Show like!

Sounds more like The Day Today's permanent commentator, Jaques "Jaques" Liverot.

Hmm - I think they were hinting at a similar "family of experts" feel to The One Show when they announced the changes. Having a permanent commentator is quite a One Show, Liquid News thing to do. (BBC Three News did try it at one point as well towards the end of the life of their 7pm show - and Five were quite keen on BBC Three News when they switched to Sky News. They recruited quite a few former BBC Three News reporters and producers)
Looking at Monday's ratings :

The One Show got 5.2 million
Five News at 7 got 0.2 million (a quarter of Channel Four News' audience)

The One Show and Five News at 7 are (arguably) equally as bad as each other. Not sure if anyone heard Chris Moyles' impression of the show when they had Christine as a guest on their show, but it summed it up completely. Why do 5.2 Million people want to know about dogs in wheelbarrows or the decline in pigeons afterall?!

Because they're fed up of Emmerdale.

What a headline at 7pm:

"Some news about Jennifer (Aniston) . . . but we're not sure if its true or not."

Is this for real? Shocked

Oh god, Isla finishes a headline about fraud or something with 'Oh dear' and played 'Who's yacht is it anyway' in the middle of the headlines.

Worst. News Show. Ever.

It really is a complete joke.

There was just a report on 'Unbreakable' were Isla gave two of the contestants some coconuts to break open, she then gave John some walnuts to break and he summed it up with:
"I never thought I'd be doing this on a news programme" Laughing

Then, Isla speaks about Obama suspending his campaign for two days over his Grandma by saying "Why an old lady has stopped Obama's campaign"

I think the wording is for 5 year olds. It's all very 'Newsround'

I thought it was supposed to be aimed at a male audience too - surely celeb gossip is for the females!

Any decent sports round up in it - 5 News used to do something pretty decent sports wise when they started but it disappeared within a few years. You'd think though with Sky's resources they'd be pushing it in the Five bulletins once more.

I caught the last 10 minutes of 5N@7 and it felt more like an hour. <smiley looking at watch >

At least yesterday there was the wedding video to laugh at. Cool
