I think the Five News updates are pretty good - they do what they say on the box. Short, snappy bursts of news which is what you would expect. In what way are they "appalling"?

For what they are, an update, they are fine and comprehensive.

I think the 'complaints' are when fives current weekend output is compared with their previous, longer, weekend output

Where are the weekend pro's like Helen Fospero

Shes on lunchtime, and while she has done the odd Saturday bulletin, I think shes done a six day weeks those weeks, or someone else has done the lunchtime one day

Next week the lunchtime news moves from 12.30 to 12.45 and is reduced from 15 to 10 minutes in length

It also appears that The Wright Stuff is moving to 9.15am, and Going For Gold is replaced by Wordplay, which is only 50 minutes in length.

So it's not going completely yet then.

It might have well as gone after seeing what little is left compared to the previous versions. FNL lasted a pathetic five minutes today, thats all. Mad

This current lunchtime show doesn't deserve any serious comment . I'd like to see the quality of the set and the location changed to match the news quality. Stick together some cut up cardboard boxes as a backdrop with the presenter sitting on a packing case all lit by a single bare light bulb from a lock up garage in london. Thats all it's worth now .

A total disgrace compared to the once excellent Five News in the morning from the earlier part of this decade.

I agree that it was hardly worth having. Was presented by someone called Phillipa Hall. One fixed camera position. Comprehensive yes, but not something to change the channel over for to watch. The weekend bulletins are important to provide a 7 day news service, but this lunchtime bulletin is a bit of a waste of time.

I didn't watch today's lunchtime bulletin, but I did see yesterdays edition of Five News and Sport which was a fixed camera with a CSO backdrop of the current set.
