Well I've only caught the 3.20 bulletin so far so it's too early to judge what the whole set looks like on screen but I do miss the window on the world. Even though it wasn't a particularly thrilling view, it would look so much better rather than using a fake newsroom backdrop, which has no life to it.
It's also a shame that there doesn't appear to be a separate soft area like on Spotlight, which, after the numerous recent regional news revamps, is still my favourite set.
The titles are exactly as before- old music, old images - just the end cap in BBC London style. The astons are Look North Hull style, but don't appear to animate.
Intresting inverted style LDN titles also It seems the end of the desk/breakfast bar is unsupported, wonder how long it'll be till someone put something heavy on it and breaks it. Also close up the "desk" looks soooooo much more tacky! I think I could do better in my room with a few sheets of MDF.
Surely it's time for an end to these "innovations", people standing, lecterns, breakfast bars, stools just look stupid and out of place.
Now we have Anne and her ironing board, I'm half expecting to tune in and see her pressing a pair of white slacks at 6.30pm.
You can't beat a good old fashioned desk, that's what I reckon.
Give it time - everything comes full circle. At some point soon the radical new fad will be having news presenters sitting down for an entire bulletin behind a desk. Crazy I know!
This new "set" must have cost nothing to build, the close up pics show how tacky it is, cut a whole in some painted MDF put a mesh gauze over it and a standard PC projector facing a mirror, repeat three more times, add kitchen units, wola, instant set.
Just cought a view of the studio at 6 and Anne is standing up at the screen ATM. They might stand up for the main headline or something. IMO, the studio isn't that bad. I have seen worse!!!

What did you think they were made out of? You should see them up close - then you'll know how rough the finish is. It only needs to look good on camera.
Well I can't help I'm afraid. No TV capture capabilities, but pretty much everything there was to see has already been shown in the thread. I'm not aware of any East Midlanders with a TV card as there never seem to be caps of EMT or CN East on here. Perhaps someone with Sky could capture from channel 950 for the 10.25 bulletin?
The newspaper review was a nice little touch, presented from the main desk by Anne and Dom. The left hand screen changed to an animated newspaper background during the review. Also the main background was animated in the same way as the national with random people in suits walking around.
The sport and weather plus the main news story were all done from the big screen , with the sport bulletin presented in a very similar to one on News 24, with Rob standing by a little lectern to his left. I think the inverted titles idea probably came about because there would have been too much red if they were displayed on the big screen.
Overall, the set looks quite dark and not particularly thrilling, but it could be worse.
