Looks like Channel 4 must have wanted the news' colour scheme to fit in with their new idents.
And now that ITN have lost five they dont have to differentiate their news for three channels.
I must say that I really like the look - and what a tasteful remix of the theme.
The studio looks very nice, and smart...not going over the top on gimmicks...obviously the bright colours are a bit of a shock, but I think the bright colour scheme is the only other scheme they could go for other than the one they previously had.
Obviously what we've seen isn't massively different...I assume the video wall area will have had a suitable makeover too - maybe we'll see this on the special programme tonight?
And how lovely it is to see a fairly normal rectangular desk survive too! Graphics are nice too...
I certainly don't think it takes anything away from Channel 4 News probably being the best bulletin on television.
Just seen the rest of the studio on tonight's Channel 4 News special - looks fantastic.
The only thing I'm not too keen on is the font they're using for graphics - looks far too 'E4' for my liking, and doesn't really fit the programme. The previous graphics were much better in my opinion.
Well C4N have a bigger version of Samira's desk where the old big pink thing was - also there was a white strip on the floor where News at Noon came from - but I suspect NaN may use the second presenters desk.
The new screen looked better suited in the new studio - it looked out of place in the last few days in the old set.
Live aston - just a variation on the old one really - and so are the stings going into the ads.
Overall very nice - although the opening titles animation does seem a tad fast.
Don't have grabs of the C4 news special from last night but the set is VERY similar to its predecessor. Main differences are - Large pink table gone and replace with what looks like some kind of desk sitting further back leaving a space where the presenter now stands. And, the large TV screens have been replaced with one large screen. All in all - much the same.
i cant help thinking there is something wrong with those titles (when viewed on tv) its as if they haven't been interlaced. they don't look as polished as the previous ones at all.
I'd imagine there's some sort of live rendering involved - especially if you look at the credits and the way all the elements fly off screen.
Perhaps suffering from the same flicker that News 24/World titles have on them.
i thought that - but they look as crap on the small screen behind the presenter, which iirc was just showing a generic loop, which wouldn't be rendered live.
