I'm really disappointed with this rebrand of BBC Parliament. It's not much of a rebrand when only the titles are changed & nothing else is included in the supposed new look.
I don't like the music in it. It sounds very long winded in it's new look. I feel that the rebrand was redesigned because for some reason it had to be redesigned by someone who had felt that it needed to be changed to make it look "better".
I don't know if this designer had an intention to make it look better but was it really that necessary to design new Parliament titles?
IMO; it doesn't feel from me that these titles had to be changed in it's entirety. I only felt that maybe it could have been given a slight refresh in the title graphics to make it look not so out of date with it's own viewers.
The lower third graphics are also still the same as before. This suggests to me that it makes the entire process of rebranding the channel completely pointless as it does not serve any purpose whatsoever.
Total speculation here but I don't suppose there's some contractual reason they've changed the idents? S4C rebranded a few years ago IIRC because it was cheaper for them to shoot cheap new idents and have a new logo designed than it was to relicense (or whatever) their package at the time. This might also explain why some random new logo is only being used in the idents and not the rest of the graphics.
This is quite obviously a step backwards, it almost feels like there should be a reason why they've suddenly gone for a frankly unnecessary rebrand with something so cheap and made in house as opposed to Lambie Nairn like the last set.
I saw the comments about how bad it was then saw the video... and it's not bad really. The logo I agree isn't great - the P is an odd size compared to the BBC logo. The visuals are quite nice I thought, certainly there's more to them then the last graphics, I could imagine them being used on air for longer periods.
Surely the main reason for the design is the increase in colour representing the more varied political hues of today?
Awful, this look like an unfinished draft that was accidentally put to air. If they wanted more party representation, they could've easily added colour to the old ident without needing to change the whole thing.
