If you told me that video was from 2005 I'd beleive you. Barring the obvious windows 7 logo in the gallery shot, it's all so old looking! Welcome to 2005 BBC parliament.
Well that's the most depressing and dated piece of TV presentation I think I've seen all year. The music is so non-descript. They've made a good job of making Parliament even less appealing.
Verdict on Parliament's pres refresh - disappointing. Music that feels like strenuous armed assault on the ears, unchanged graphics and the animation of the 'cogs' is lacklustre.
It's dull, and not considered to be an enjoyable 'new look' in the slightest.
Any kind of presentation and branding refresh across other BBC channels should be taken with a grain of salt, because frankly BBC THREE, CBBC and Parliament's new pres packages aren't a patch on previous branding.
Ahh, so, err... I guess the main question was why change it at all? If they wanted to have a longer sequence for between programmes why not go back to Lambie-Nairn and ask them to rework it? Same for the music.
And if you're going to make a big deal of the new look - change the rest of the graphics at the same time! It feels like the new logo has been changed for the sake of it, totally pointless altering the font and the misaligning the text.
Hadn't realised that, but I guess it makes sense - they have a presenter on shift to prepare for the late night highlights programme, and a couple of CSO cupboards so they might as well put those resources to use to fill the gap until the session starts with something a bit more engaging than a menu slide.
