Is that Ruth Madoc from Hi-De-Hi ? Does she do the headlines with bursts of the xylophone in between and announce the ITV West knobbly knees contest ?

Interesting to see these caps, a treat! Presumably there was a report on the move and the construction of the new set?

Considered assessment:
Despite a flashy new look, ITV West News basically remains s h i t e .
The most fitting way to describe the presenter interaction is that it is a weak parody of drop the dead donkey, and why the hell was a competition promoted in the opening titles? Is this a news programe or an infomercial?

In its current state, the ITV West viewers would be better off with a sub-opt of Westcountry. That is no joke! Hang on, that sounds suspiciously like the ITV West masterplan anyway!

Yes, well, (to quote a better brain than mine) it's difficult to fit a breezeblock into a toaster!

True, but toasters can hold more than a breadcrumb.

Interesting that Tyne-Tees and West got their new studios on the same weekend, Tyne-Tees about twenty-four hours earlier than West.

The discussion about Tyne-Tees, over in the other thread, is still going stong, over forty-eight hours after the change.

The discussion about West died after about six hours, rather like a breezeblock falling into a toaster.

Sums up the situation, methinks.

I wonder if Lisa Aziz knows what she's letting herself in for?

Hopefully not a breezeblock - that's just plain nasty.

Glad to know so many of us watch the programme. I am also glad to hear that the shot of the suspension bridge is not live. The last thing I want to see on my TV is a bunch of Chavvy Bristolians standing on the bridge trying to wave at the camera.

With regards to the BBC, well what can I say......The last time I saw a local BBC programme it was raining and a pigeon was sitting on top of the camera.....how nice!!

Unlike Points Wests shot of Bristol as least ITV West have a nice shot of a spectacular display of architecture which represents the whole of the South West.

Welcome along.

You keep watching the suspension bridge.

At least it's a whole lot more interesting than what breezeblock and toaster have to say.

I don't watch ITV West Snooze that often but I would not want a sub opt from Plymouth. Bristol is a major UK city and needs its own "local news" to be based there.

Not caught the new look yet but that backdrop reminds me of the naff backgrounds that used to be keyed on behind the CA's back in the 1980's.
