Here we go again. Please watch HTV news ... if you do, you can win a car. Total bribery. Amazing.

Well, they don't have poor families and pensioners paying huge sums in tax, sorry license fees to splash on a pretty-but-pointless live camera.
Agree about the shots and dull direction. But that's what we get on all channels from Bristol....
Still more watchable than BBC Propaganda West. with endless state press releases repeated word perfect by the young girls plucked from the Cotswold horse and pony club (or local newspaper reporters doing free 'work experiance weeks' in jobs that will never be externally advertised. Hm..)
Off to the BBC Journalists 'e enabled lifelong online learning and Skills development' re-training course or whatever its called with them all.

Well allegedly it all cost £100 000, and took months of planning.
The suspension bridge was filmed over 3 days in varying conditions for the recorded backdrop.

Looks like they've also adopted the pointless/badly-informed text shoutings as in Wales. Mind you at least you don't have James Wright again this week.

I'll say it now - I don't regularly check in with the regions anorak-stylee. Nor do I read an extraordinary amount of stuff about the regions on this Forum. As such, this opinion is entirely my own impression and I have no idea whether I'm in conflict or agreement with the consensus.
HTV West News/ITV West News is a total hash.
Quite simply, a hash. The presenters have the chemistry of a breezeblock and a toaster. They remind me of a spoof morning show. The content is bland, uneventful and conjures up the feeling of over-diluted orange juice. Presentation-wise, HTV News has been transformed from uninspiring to cardboard cutout.
I apologise if I cause offence to those of you connected with HTV who may read this Forum, but there is no point in being nice "just in case".
I used to have a soft spot for HTV West, but checking in with it tonight is really very disappointing indeed. It needs to be picked up, shaken violently and repeatedly, and given regular injections of life for it to get better. Unfortunately, the current direction of the ITV News Group is working well against that whole concept.

That's such a cheap analogy. Strip out the tax on shopping from companies advertising on HTV, and you'd probably save a damn sight more than the licence fee.

They could have seriously filmed somewhere more interesting - or at least vary the view a bit if the cam isn't live.

Sure, sure. Just like that straight-from-press-release exclusive at the top of Points West tonight. Strange, I didn't see that anywhere else beforehand. Neither did I see, as an example plucked out of the air, the continuing coverage of the airport closure (on TV, radio and online) last Friday which HTV so strangely seemed to not find out about. How could these two examples could have happened within a few days of each other??

That is one of the best lines ever seen on TV Forum.
Congratulations.
I might easily steal it and re-use it, but I'm afraid I'm like that.

Surprised they mentioned on-air that the view is pre-recorded, I would have thought they would have liked the viewers to think its live.

A few of the backdrops are not "real" as such. The familiar London backdrop used to be appropriate when LT used to come from the studios on the Thames, with the camera perched at the top of the tower, but the move to Gray's Inn Road has meant that the backdrop is the wrong side of the river now in relation to the current studios.

Perhaps, Timewarp, but I think we are arguing the point that it isn't live as opposed to it being a real window ... Erm. Someone help me out here.
