Its probably too much to expect, but I hope they bring back the voiceovers at the start of each programme. It would be nice to hear 'The ITV Evening News with Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale' again!

I did miss them with the relaunch - but now kind of used to the headlines without them so it could interupt the flow of the opening of the programme. I'd like to see a proper ident back at 6.30pm though between the local news and national news - and at 6pm ahead of the regional news.

How do the presenters get name-checked at the moment? Do they use astons? I just can't think at the moment.

They don't. Well I suppose they do in a way on the Evening News as they get introduced by the presenters of the regional news beforehand. Most people watching wouldn't have a clue who Leyla Daybelge is, for example, because her name is never mentioned.

That's kind of what I thought, but then I figured they must get name-checked somehow, so I must be being stupid. I'm sure most viewers would want to know who they're watching - bit of a poor show really.

The presenters of the Evening News do not get name-checked as Lookaround hands over at 6.30pm. There either needs to be a proper ident into the Evening News, or bring back the voiceover. I would prefer the latter.

I've never understood why they don't show an ident at 6pm going into the regional news. If it's too much bother for ITV to broadcast regional idents at that point (even though they can manage regional trails), why don't the regions themselves play out local idents, perhaps even tagged onto the front of the opening titles as Border used to do?

I think the Network News bulletins should have followed the News Channel with the "Live with Mark Austin & Mary Nightingale" under the main logo on the sting.

The continuity announcer usually tells us who is presenting the news, just like they do on BBC1. Except at 6.30pm of course.

No they don't! There is no ident into the Evening News, it goes straight into it from the regional news. Even when the news is not preceded by regional news, the announcer rarely says who is presenting.

Andrew is talking about all other bulletins apart from 6.30

Granada dropped that Ident at 6pm, about 2 weeks after the first new look ITV 1. I think it might have been because alot of the time they said the wrong region presenters for it.

Scottish TV is slightly different. We get Scotland Today, Scottish Weather (read by a continunity announcer), Talking Scotland (someone from Scotland discusses an issue), graphic ident and then the news.

They also bother to do an announcement at 6pm aswell.

That just looked tacky.

I always felt with the current look an announcement could have been added over the second part of the titles (before the other headlines in the studio) - just simply "ITV News with..."
