Some problems tonight. First of all the screen goes blank at 6.28pm, then Fred Dinenage here with the headlines in the south in the update before 7.

Were you watching the analogue broadcast or via Sky as I didn't notice a blank screen on Freeview?

(Whilst Vanessa Langford was reporting from the Brit Awards the picture did briefly cut back to Alastair and Tamzin in the studio, who then proceeded to apologise at the same time once the piece was over, but nothing too major by way of cock-ups).

Unfortunately I didn't make it to the update in the middle of the Evening News.

Watching via Sky.

Watching via Sky - I got the blackout near the end as well as the cutting back to the studio during Vanessa Langford's piece.

Top story on London Today at 10.55.

Madonna hates the congestion charge.

ITV might as well rename the programme Showbiz Today.

It surprised me as well, the amount of showbiz-related stories on London Today. Surely there are other, more important stories that are of greater significance to the average Londoner? I know London Today/Tonight is generally more informal than, say, BBC LDN, but it does not mean that we need to be fed a load of celebrity-related trash!

Now when you lose a pet, you'd normally put notices up on shop windows, signposts and community boards, except if your name is Lionel Blair and you get a 5 min appeal slot and interview with Alistair and Katie on London Tonight!

What was the point of that? There are some really misguided editoral decisions taken at London Tonight!

Chris Rogers seems to be on reporting duties nowadays; tonight he was in Hyde Park regarding bird flu, and last Thursday (IIRC) he was reporting on some "word" art. I suppose he'll still anchor bulletins every now and again too.
