National ITV reporter Emma Murphy with the London regional update:

Carrie Frais has just presented the lunchtime London Today bulletin - whilst presenting on the News Channel at the same time. Which was pre-recorded?
If it was the London bulletin, could that not potentially cause problems for ITV London a la Central News East's recent troubles? Or does their licence not stipulate (as Central's does) that news should be broadcast live?
I think this is the camera they sometimes use as a backdrop for the weather, with a view towards Waterloo Bridge, which must be somewhere at the other end of the former LNN studio to the usual camera.
Do they often use this other backdrop on the GMTV bulletins?
This morning was slightly different again - the backdrop showed the bit of Victoria Embankment between HQTS Wellington and HMS President - it looks like the camera has just been turned a little bit.
Presumably it's something to do with the usual view being east-facing and thus into the sun in the early morning?
It looks crap in 14:9, and it serves no purpose other then to lose picture top and bottom, for crying out loud when will broadcasters keep to the simple format of keeping 4:3 pictures 4:3 and 16:9 pictures 16:9

Its not like that for widescreen viewers, either having to see it squashed or huge black bars down each side. Its stupid they aint proper 16.9 by now anyway.
