Interesting spin they've put on that programme statement.
"Expensive new set" - are we supposed to be impressed? And "innovative viewer technology" (I paraphrase) is merely laziness to let the viewer do most of the work and then just get one of the IRN journalists to do a voicer for it.
Despite its problems, it does well 80% of the time...short bulletins are a lot better than they were a year ago, or even a few months ago but the main programme is the biggest let down of the whole thing. It just makes you mad that ITN are producing this programme, and makers of great television news have ended up churning out pap that it suited to Charles Allen's budget.
Heaven forbid that the news isn't entertaining. Who would want that?

I notice that Leyla did the Lunchtime summaries of ITV News on Sat and Sun. Is this the first time since before June 2003 she has done an ITV 1 bulletin ?
( Sorry, I know this is not exactly the correct thread )

A fairly depressing promo for your "star-studded London Tonight" in the week ahead has appeared on both bulletins today, voiced by the editor himself (Stuart Thomas) - complete with the old ITV1 logo:

Seeing that other regions seem to be lining up senior presenters for the new extended lunchtime bulletin (apparently Llewella Bailey at Central West and Jenny Hull at ITV West), I wonder who will present it in London?
At the moment the lunchtime bulletin gets an assortment of presenters. Often it's Lucy Alexander or one of the reporters, sometimes it's Leyla Daybelge and occasionally it's Katie Derham.

I think we can guess it wont be Katie Derham.
Personally I would like Lucy Alexander to read it, some sort of consistency then with the old London Tonight. also she's around most days because of her presenting shift on the News Channel makes sense to me to have some sort of stability to the schedule just like Joyce doing the late bulletin.
Do we know what time the local news will be in the programme?

1.15, apparently.
1.15pm?!?!? I thought it would be in the middle of the programme, or at 1.05pm or something like that. Oh well the good thing is that as soon as the Regional News has finished on ITV1 we can flip over to BBC1 for the Regional News.

Why is it depressing? If I lived in London, and by the looks of it, I would watch it.
