WHAT THE ****!?
London Tonight are surely having a joke?
Leading with the story that the Queen says Paris thinks the people supporting their bid are better than London's. Correct...everyone knows that.
Not content with that, they devote another 10 minutes to OLD news of just what the Olympics will do for London.
Surely this programme is now taking the piss!? Oh, and they're yet again talking to Lord Coe about how wonderful the bid will be.
I know my approach and language may seem a little harsh here, but I am just astounded how this can be considered a credible programme. It's like they're reading the newspaper on TV. Awful, just awful.

LOL - I am suprised you even watched the programme. I caught the end as I normally do after the SIX finishes, and the huge Olympic flag that practically filled the studio with Alastair signing it was quite enough. Oh no..........not quite. They closed the show with that lovely shot of the studio from the atrium with..............wait for it - LONDON TONIGHT - BACKING THE BID slapped on part of the atrium (although I am sure it was com generated).
The show is just dire. Such a shame it really is! London Tonight used to be one of my fave shows on tv back in the early nighties. It's turned into a crock of sh@t!!!!

Like any bad programme...you feel inspired to watch more.
I don't mind the programme "backing the bid" in fact I think it's a very good idea and nice to have a real big backer, but I just didn't see the point of having 15 minutes of old news on the programme, and then only about 8 minutes of other "news" - which involved Glen Goodman reporting on a story covered months ago and talking to people with a rather large ghettoblaster on his shoulder.
The programme is just getting more and more surreal!
But I've said it before, it's bad all round. How does BBC London get away with half the stuff it does? Well mainly because it's just one up from London Tonight...but only just. The BBC still insist on ignoring some of the news stories that are pretty significant, and will often lead in the locals. Both programmes are continuing becoming painful to watch.

At first I thought that London Tonight was a bit bad when it relaunched last year, but it's growing on me, I think Katie and Alastair are strong presenters and it pretty much is relevant to Londoners. They want London to win the olympics and are knocking it in that they want us to win - that's the only way we will win. The correspondents are strong, and as much as I miss Anna Maria Ashe (and I still wish Paul Greene would come back), I've got over it and I like the current programmes.

But what does it do for balance? How can they do any objective reporting about the Olympic bid when they have a large banner across the top of their studio saying 'Back The Bid'?
It is quite difficult to balance stories about London 2012 as it is - there are actually very few London organisations that oppose the bid, although the same can't be said about public opinion - and you can only do so many Vox pops!
I really fail to see how London Today/Tonight could provide anything but a pro-London 2012 bias
You certainly coudn't get away with that at the BBC.....althoguh it remains to be seen if ITV can.
