ITV London Tonight

Yup, that's what I am getting on the NC, I thought it was my NTL dodgybox, but it must be an ITN fault.

Ah bang on 22:56 and when we both posted - and now the sound problems have been sorted out!

EDIT - ooops back to the weather and a VERY bad cut to blank out the sponsorship and its back to left speaker only again now! OOOPS

Sound is fine on ITV1 London - but the NC is still messed up

Meridian Weather seems to have far more info on the Weather than Granada Weather and London Weather really.

A bit late in opting back to the News aswell.

This might sounds a bit stupid, and also a bit obvious but, :-

Why couldnt Mary Nightingale present the ITV London News from the ITV News studio? She isnt doing anything else in that time - it would only mean reading another autocue inbetween items?

Surely that is a much easier answer rather than messing about opting in and out of Meridian News?

Nice to see the late bulletin of Meridian News and Weather (with Gemma) on the ITV NC tonight.

Or the London Tonight presenter could have joined Mary in the studio

First taste of GMG South Weather for me! I actually now know who Gemma Humphries is, though it looked like that Meridian South must share their Weather with Meridian North as it had the Southern coastline on the map.

Wasn't sure about the grey stripe under the name of the chart having two lines of text for tide times which didn't fit. Good that they are using that feature though.

Also following those other suggestions, London news could have come from the ITV1 Short Bulletin studio?

I guess it could well have probably a problem with the NC gallery (I guess they use that for the late London bulletin?)

I wonder if the recorded output on the NC was played out from Gray's Inn Road or by NTL? (do they still handle the playout of ads etc?)

Just out of interest does anyone know what's happened at ITN tonight?

Only the main ITV News in all regions except Meridian North and London went without a hitch tonight, NC was sort of playing up with sound at 11.05pm, it was after about 5 mins worth of promos.

Airconditioning broke down at GIR forcing shutdown of many systems, just about the only systems left on line were those to provide services to News at 2230 - thats why London Viewers were given meridian news and ITV London couldn't broadcast.
