ITV London Tonight

A bit like they largely ignore news as a whole now ...

I'm just watching London Tonight on the ITV News Channel now, and I have to say it is as no where near as good as it was. I just saw the report about the computer hacking with a laptop, and I have to say how over the top it was, it was very American, LT seems to be like a News version of Watchdog or something, it just doesn't seem quite right. Compare London Tonight and all of the other ITV Regional News programmes, you can see how different and how worse IMO London Tonight is. You can't call laptop hacking a top story? All of the top stories seem to come under Other Headlines in Brief now.

I hope it goes back to it's old format as I can't stand it like it is, it doesn't feel no where near like how ITV Regional News should be.

Indeed. ITN don't seem to know what to do with the format - so now we have the ever intrepid Keir Simmonds reporting on how we're all going to die from terrorism/drowning/laptop hacking/car rage/traffic wardens, whilst the stories that actually affect people are pushed to the (as you say) in brief section to be replaced by magazine and over the top sensationalist journalism.

Add that to fact that we've had about 25 different presenters doing it in accordance with their ITV1/ITVNC duties, it just feels like an offshoot of ITN, rather than ITV's news service for London.

Who presented London Today and London Tonight this Good Friday?

Oh and what did Keir Simmonds make of the stereotypical Bank Holiday 'all rail lines are closed, roads are busy' type story?, no doubt that Easter is ruined for all Londoners?

I haven't seen it today and I don't want to, for another as I call 'London is Unsafe, Top Story' report, it is really annoying me now.

The amount of great people that ITN didn't keep on; Anna Maria Ashe, Paul Green etc, but they keep Mr OTT! I am so glad I'm in Granadaland.

Why don't ITN actually cover some IMPORTANT stories for London Tonight? Not crap that no-one could care about.

Dear God! Yet again London Tonight is leading on a 'terror panic' story with Keir Simmonds

I had thought for many months, even years, that Paul Greene would surely leave London Today to be promoted to a national news programme. He was great and worked so many hours- he seemed to be there always!
I came to this website purely because I had a slim hope that I would find this was the case. Alas not but it's so good to see that others feel as strongly as me!

London Tonight know how to get it wrong, don't they? I'm just watching this 10.50pm on the NC Tonight, top story, for once being an important story, though I see no reason for a live OB outside a Building Society at night, when there are loads of p*ssed people are going passed. Second story being, 9 out of 10 cops would carry a gun.

And another Keir Simmons classic, Road Humps! And the problems with them! With a clip which should have been on Poilce, Camera, Action!

What has gone wrong with this programme? I bet some people on here think that ITV West News is better than London Tonight.
