They've gone into a break! First time since the relaunch I think?

And another break!

EDIT: Now I think about it, it's probably because there will be no adverts tonight in ''Our Daughter Holly'' meaning they're making up for it now.

Maybe Katie's disappearing voice had something to do with it! Appeared to be getting worse throughout the programme, thought we might have an Anna Ford moment at one stage!

How long do you think it will be before the ITN muppets realise that the St Pauls weather shot they use everyday during GMTV is anamorphic?

Maybe this is their first faltering steps at going widescreen - one shot at a time.

Are they CSOing their 16:9 anamorphic "window" camera directly behind their 4:3 presenter shot without ARCing or DVEing it into 4:3???

ITN do seem to have problems with 16:9 - quite often they don't seem to notice when film clips, pop videos and clips of widescreen programmes are delivered in 16:9 - and just edit them in unconverted so they look tall and thin. Given that ITN edit using Quantel Editboxes they should have the capabilities to fix these in most of their craft edit areas - though via their desktop editing it may not be as easy.

Under the headline "Viewing boost for London Tonight", Press Gazette reports that LT's audience was up a massive 2% during the first week of the new look (an extra 10,000 viewers).

The 10.50 bulletin also put on an average of 10,000 viewers during the first week.

I'm still not sure whether the use of the word "massive" is in a sarcastic context or not...

Yes it was Wink

Though I suppose it's not a bad start.

I don't know how much the figures for London Tonight and BBC London News usually fluctuate across the weeks and months though.

Has anyone else noticed that the shot in the middle of the programme (zoom from the ITN atrium) is actually pre-recorded?

I wonder how long it's going to take them to remove the broken link to the London Tonight website on the ITV London site?

In the case of ITV it depends on the preceding programme. The first week of the new 10:30 ITV News the ratings were up..... but only because I'm a Celebrity was on beforehand.

I'd have thought that th small jump in London Tonight was probably a statistical blip rather than anything significant - it got barely any promotion and most people probably didn't even know it was changing. Also 10,000 is nothing in TV ratings terms - maybe just a woman in Carshalton who had the week off?

Jonathan Morrell will be presenting the evening edition of London Tonight - doesn't he do Tyne Tees News as well?
