Sorry ALTOWERS but the London FRANCHISE area is a far bigger place than just the Capital. This whole London Thing is why anyone is the suberbs of London is totally forgotten. How about a Home Counties TV.

It has been a problem for a long time. As others have said, no-one out of central London gets a look in for more than a mention.

I'm near Luton, and used to only get London TV, and it always makes you feel alienated, the nearest they get if you are very lucky, is Watford.

The Anglia West programme covers down as far as Harlow, Hoddesdon and Stansted, and and is quite news filled a lot of the time. At others though it can be empty, with stories drafted in from borderline areas of Norfolk. I assume the East programme covers the Southend area just as well.

In my opinion, much much better.

Anna Maria was at LWT News for a couple of years before the launch of LNN

I can just about remember Christopher Peacock and Liz Wickham from TVS though!

Yep - though I'm sure Anna Maria did a stint at TVS, presenting the Maidstone Coast to Coast, prior to moving to LWT (I think Liz Wickham replaced her as Mike Debens main co-presenter?)

Yep she certainly did and also did a bit of in-vision continuity too in the mid 80s for TVS, I think TV Ark has a clip of her.

Anna Maria also did a stint as announcer / newsreader at Grampian Tv in Aberdeen. Ah those were the days!!

The end music to London Tonight is brilliant, and does anyother regions use that end music or just London?

Do you really think so? I was just thinking how bad the junctions on London now sound. At 1830 you get a London headline rumble, London closing music, and that cuts straight into an identical National headline sequence. It sounds dreadful - you hear the same music about 3 times in as many minutes.

I think the BBC regional and national arrangements sound much better - they are different enough to sound good together, yet still feel part of a bigger family.

I don't think any other regions use it. The merger has ruined all the music in the regions. London Tonight had brilliant music before the corporate theme, as did other regions, at least the studios still have some individuality.

The Week is coming from the old London Tonight studio. Is ITN going to take over this programme in due course?

The programme carried a "London News Network production for LWT" endcap

Lloyd Bracey is doing the lunchtime London Today!

EDIT - and though he got cut off in mid-sentence at the end, he said he will be back with London Tonight later.

I never realised that Alastair Stewart had such a strong London accent. I was watching London Tonight the other night and he was laughing (quite loudly) and I just realised he sounds a bit like Ken Livingston.

Lloyd's just said that Jonathan Wills and Katie Derham are presenting the main programme tomorrow, which makes sense as it was mentioned in the ITV News thread that John Nicolson will be doing 'Live with...' tomorrow on the News Channel.
