Looks like the national closing shot is restricted because of the London set, would be good if the close could come back 'into' the London set vand stopped on the table or something.

Ill probably be told off for this but tonight's 6pm and late bulletins were disgraceful. I mean what news was actually on there? A features report followed by an interview taking up ten minutes of the bulletin followed by light hearted content and weather at 615! How the editor of the bulletin could look at that running order and be happy is beyond me, it must be so hard for staff who have worked and are working on the bulletin to see what it has become.

I learnt nothing about news in the capital tonight, the late bulletin was evening worse. Again the story on poverty from Ria Chaterjee followed by a report about a singing quartet. It totally undermines the viewer who are expecting to see news. There wasn't even a section for news in brief.

I have little faith for the future and after two days of the program but try to retain some hope that things on London Tonight will be a lot more 'news worthy' tomorrow after all I always choose ITV for news and have been a regular viewer of the program for years.

There's no real restriction. Not sure what sense there would be in including the London regional set in the end shot of the national bulletin...

Daybreak updates come from the main ITV News desk but with the London backdrop, the lunchtime news has done this (with the national presenter) for years.

As of this morning, it's back to normal, with 6.07 bulletin from National Desk (as well as Lunchtime). All other bulletins are from LT set.

Like on Channel 4 News, sometimes the camera comes far back enough so that you can see the desk of the 'soft area', like that.

I wonder why they all don't come from the London set now there in the same studio! Obviously before it was for practically reasons as the Presneter couldn't travel between floors but now surely it's just a case of walking over?

But why would the majority of viewers who aren't in London want to see the edge of a set they can't possibly watch?

Depends, is the plan only to use it for LT or will the National use it as a soft unterview area if needed?

Why would that be needed?

Although they're sharing the same studio, they're still two separate sets and two separate programmes. Closely linked, but separate all the same.

The ITV News jib panning back to show the London Tonight desk wouldn't make any sense. It'd be like the Coronation Street camera crew deliberately panning out of a Rovers Return scene to show all the technical staff and the backs of the other sets. This is the news, not Acorn Antiques.

When the had the 'Theatre of News' they had bemches at the desk, now the most theu can have at the main desk is 2(one on each side?)
