I didn't catch the Take That coverage, although I know Lucy Cotter interviewed the band following their press conference. I think the Take That announcement was quite a big story though, as I'm sure I saw it covered extensively on other news programmes (including BBC News Channel and Sky News, both of whom carried the press conference live if I'm not mistaken). So definitely a story worthy of coverage on London Tonight, but I take your point about excessive promotion.

To give ITN some credit, the ITV produced regions that day also had a local reporter at the queues for tickets for gigs at the other venues, although I can see the news in that, although Ms Cotter interviewing the band isn't really.

Message from the editor of London Tonight has been posted on Facebook:

"As you're all aware the show has moved to a single anchor format; the single anchor in question being Nina. This is not due to cuts. ITV Regional News is changing its agendas to better reflect the straitened times in which we currently live and viewer concerns about the impact of cuts.

"London Tonight feel that this more serious agenda would fit with a single anchor presentation backed by a higher profile role of specialist correspondents and expert guests.

"But fear not, the show will still find room for stories which reflect the brighter and more uplifting side of London life.

"Ben Scotchbrook will be presenting the programme on Fridays and the late edition of London Tonight after the ITV News at Ten. He will also be reporting."

Good to see Ben covering for Nina and Royal Wedding coverage reduced to the lead story.

Wow, London Tonight is about to spend its 7th Christmas is its current (or shall I say ancient) set.

The new format seems to have worked better since Nina's not been on the programme. Hmm......?

..it's the same set as every other region. Why would they change it, then they'd have to change them all?

They're horrid sets. Armstrong and Miller appear to use one of them for their BBC Breakfast sketches with the dodgy royal correspondent.

Not really. Her first piece was sending her up to Colchester to the pub where Matt Cardie worked at, which isn't in London Tonight's editorial region, then an interview with him in a hotel in Mayfair.

Seemed fine in her delivery.
