Excellent ideas from BBC World and House. John Stapleton would make a fine choice, in the vein of Alastair Stewart or Frank Bough on LWT. The Kate Garraway idea is interesting, not least of all because I have this vague recollection of her working on London Today/Tonight in the mid-Nineties; it was between her stints at Meridian and BBC News, I think.
Don't be so sure on that front. There's concern already at how Daybreak hasn't made the impact that was hoped for and there have been discussions about how this could be rectified. And as both the reviewers in the press noted last week, along with some members on here, there was more than a whiff of resentment and 'forced amiability' between Bleakley, Chiles and Garraway on screen. To be fair, I can see no reason at all why it shouldn't be possible for somebody to present a morning show and do either a lunchtime or evening bulletin; it's a regular occurrence on this side of the Atlantic, the most notable examples being Harry Smith anchoring the Early Show and filling in on the CBS Evening News, or Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer alternating between Good Morning America and World News Tonight on ABC. I'm sure that John Stapleton and Kate Garraway are remunerated sufficiently enough and if they are only appearing on Daybreak once or twice a week for a few segments then I'm quite sure that there's enough time left in the week to do another broadcast.
Its not going to happen they have just joined Daybreak and Kate is going to be on every morning do you realisticly think that they would present lunchtime news everyday and John is not there for the occasional programme he will most likley be giving exclusives and interviews and special reports . Also Nina wont just be axed like that she is a regular across 1:30,6:30 and 10 its not going to under go a massive change the whole of itv regions tend to move together and it needs some stability.
