So with Matt gone from ITV London, does that mean he won't ever present the national news either?

I always liked him, and liked it when he presented the short bulletins and weekend news, but am worried ITV have axed him fully!!

Not sure why they axed him, I liked him. Not that I watch London Tonight often as I live in Cumbria, but I would sometimes put it on and never had a problem with him.

Will be a shame if they have and also

I think Donal's a good signing but his newsreading is very poor (esp on the single-anchor late update). Even though he's never been a news 'anchor' he's surely done live presenting before?

To me he seems to have a sloppy attitude and tonight he was doing his live intro while facing the camera when he should have been facing the screen with Phil Bayles on.
What was he like on the late bulletin tonight?

I did hear him do a report on ITV Central the other week, so I wonder if he's working there? Haven't watched Central News in the past few days...

Find it hard to understand how (and why) Macintyre is being permitted to persevere with his shoddy appearance and attitude. And the passé, sticking up hair doesn't help. Since his unsuitability for the job and his presentational shortcomings must have been equally as obvious in any 'screen tests', the lack of any ostensible attempts at improvement just make his original employment all the more peculiar.

Lol! Look at this video of Alex Hyndman online, another case of a video uploaded which is a bit longer then it should be Wink http://www.itv.com/london/london-morning-news89591/

And two outtakes in there too.

By they way - is it just me or does Donal look absolutely mental in his picture on the website?

As discussed in the main ITV News thread, Katie Derham is leaving ITN for Radio 3 and the BBC News Channel:

Who will join Donal (yawn) is a big question indeed, people saying on the ITV News thread about Emma Crosby?? Shes good I guess.
I couldn't bear to watch Nina, imagine!! "Good evening your watching London Tonight" Donal looking as if he is about to collapse and Nina with a straight smile and no warmth.
There is also Alex Hyndman and brilliant choice and as I said on the ITV News thread and bad choice to let her go!!.
Charlene White? Lucy Cotter? Romilly Weeks? Emma Walden? Faye Barker?
Quite a few candidates I guess and hopefully Donal gets the boot and Matt returns.. wishful thinking ey Wink

Nina's the first person who springs to mind, ex BBC London and has similar national news pedigree to Katie, however this is another opportunity to get a presenter who doesn't work on the national bulletins.

Emma Crosby or Kate Garraway could be offered the gig as part of a deal to leave GMTV.

Alex Hyndman would be my personal choice, she did a great job covering last year.
