Before we all round on this simpleton, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and attempt to explain what he is saying.

CPFC means: the fake image behind the projectors is actually linked to a camera showing a live shot over London.

Yes, the old studio was absolutely fantastic - nothing wrong with it. You can't beat a good open studio like they had. It was no gimmicks and no nonsense and just had a fantastic view of the capital. Marvellous.

Shame ITN have decided to ruin it in a way - would have looked a bit better if they could have beamed a bigger projection of London behind the presenters...perhaps a bit more like what you'd see on the national BBC1 news or Look East. Then it would look half decent.

Certainly hope GMTV move into the former LNN studio - when they were messing with the studio a while back and they moved in to the soft set there...although cramped it was absolutely fantastic and the sun shining on the backdrop of the capital and the Thames just looked brilliant.

And the backdrop's looks as real as the last one (maybe because it is!).

I think you've missed a slightly fundamental point here... they have moved. The studio is nowhere near the river.

It may be live, but it's certainly not a window.

The scene behind them is being relayed from the South Bank to ITN. It's quite simple.

So far it seems much more features-led and less newsy.

Obviously the new set-up is just horrid [in my opinion], but the backdrop looks slightly better now it's apparently complete darkness -- not a patch on the great vista before however. How sad.

And how does it go from bright blue to pitch black sky in about ten minutes? You see my sky is still blue, but then I don't have sunsets in the morning.

Obviously needed your mate to explain it, smartarse.

Aaaanyway, yes the programme seems to be similar to the LDN way. Less focus on crime and murder, more on "life".

It has become too much of a magazine.

I'm probably biased, I have always hated ITV's London news services, The view of london is great, but the studio always felt cold, and old. And after 11-12 years of it, I for one am glad to see it gone. But I would of been disappointed if we didnt get a nice view of the capital.

I think the story count is too low now.

The old London Tonight seemed packed and fast-moving, but this is all rather lightweight. Fairly interesting, but I just don't feel as if I've had a comprehensive update on what's been happening in London today.

Great shot of the ITN atrium!
