Alex on the late news! Very Happy

you was so excited you posted it twice!! Laughing

I missed it - I still don't know why they didn't use her as the backup to Katie - instead of Lucy ( even though I like her, Alex is 10x better!) Although as said at the time, were not sure who's choice it was.

Talking of which , I was thinking tonight that it still isn't the same without Alastair. Although his on straight afterwards , LT suits him much more! Matt has fitted in to be fair, but you can't beat a legend like Alastair!

Yeah I know Alistair got on with everyone. Just thinking aswell how ITV London Tonight should have changed its presenting schedules if everybody was willing to.
I think Ben should have become the main presenter of London Tonight with Matt joining the team and being Bens London Life Role. Matt would have also covered the bulletins.
Because Ben would be the main presenter Alex Hyndman could of gone onto the late london news and fill in for Katie. Nina and Lucy are just terrible tbh. For example this evening Nina was sitting there all slouched, she doesn't work well with Matt or Ben for that matter she always seems miserable and I would rather see her go onto the national news. As for Lucy, sweet and jokey but presenting style she is not. Alex did a brilliant job and sometimes I would rather see her then Katie and for example this week how many times has Katie presented, once. So lucky us have Nina and Lucy. Joy!!

Definatley Ben should have become the main presenter - I hardly see him ! Ben must of been unavalibale, so Robin had too take his place on that one day - will be intresting too see if his used more - tbh his a good weather presenter, mabye it's because his is the weather presnter , that it didn't seem right him presenting.

Lucy should have definatley been the backup one - I think Katie may have been off most of the week because of half term.

No half term has been and gone, really though since Alistair left as you said its sort of changed, just had a thought why don't they use Romilly to present oh and have you noticed that Matt is a northerner, Nina has a northern tinge to her accenct, Lucy is a northener yet they are presenting a London Program. No Offence to you northerners but wouldn't it make sence for someone in the south to work on a news program for the capital.

Matt could avoid any words that have an 'a' in them Wink .

They really need to have Katie presenting either the Evening News or London Tonight whenever possible; I found myself drifting off to the BBC today.

As far as Robin's concerned - he was a little stilted at the start, no doubt because of nerves, but he got better as the bulletin progressed and I thought he did pretty well. I would expect him to settle in after a couple of broadcasts. (The only thing is we'd be deprived of his sometimes hilarious links to the weather Cool ).

I think you'll find that's called "Discrimination". Clearly Lucy and Matt both live in London - and they can both legally work in this country - therefore there is no reason at all they should not work on ITV London. Equally I would have no problem with a "southerner" working on Tyne Tees.

What on earth makes you think Nina, Lucy or Matt's birth places have any impact on their presenting skills on a London programme? Especially given the high numbers of non-"Londoners" living in the capital!

Oh, and I do take offence. Saying "no offence" doesn't mean what you say won't have an emotional impact on someone else.

Yeah I don't mean to cause offence because I do have family relatives who are from Birmingham but if I lived in tynetees or grandada etc and the whole fleet of presenting team was full of southerners then I would rather see northerners presenting. Im not saying there bad presenters because where they come from and it is nice to see a bit of mix of person presenting and im truly sorry if I have caused any offence.

I think Robin presenting any news programme is a joke. The guy won a weather presenting competition on 'This Morning', is not a journalist and that alone makes it a joke. London Tonight has gone seriously downhill of late. Matt Teale has no charisma whatsoever, the show is unbearable to watch.

Well Al, and Alex as cover for when Katie is presenting the national news Very Happy .

I believe Robin was an actor before getting into the weather, so he doesn't appear to have a background in journalism, but I would have thought he has the personality to make for a 'watchable' presenter. Probably can't see him as the sole anchor on a national bulletin at this point.

I can never understand why they never use someone like Simon Harris to present it really does baffle me and in stead of Lucy why not use Emma Walden. She has presented on countless times before so why not present now and it would be nice to see her present because I have a soft spot for her. Laughing

I don't know why I said it was half term - I know that was about 3/4 weeks ago!! Laughing
I do sort of agree with your point about "northerners" presenting - it would be like watching STV news with a Londoner!! Laughing

Nina Hossain's from Yorkshire, but also presented BBC London News. The issue should be if the presenters know the patch they're covering more than which part of the UK they're from.

Sorry, can't gel to Matt Teale. LT is at it's lowest point since ITN took over in 2004.

This week has been much better than the last, basically because this week Katie has presented it every evening so far. (Still think she should be on the national news in preference to LT).
