A nice send off, and nice to see them kind of acknowledging the old days (even though no-one briefed him about the names!) too.

However he's really just going from one side of an office to another to work on news bulletins that he's filled in for over he past few years and which used to be his full time job anyway!

A nice little send off - and makes you realise that the old London Studios set and theme were just fantastic. Just streets ahead of anything out there at the moment.

At least one good thing about ITN taking over London Tonight was that it brought Alastair back to the company and he now has a higher profile job. It was a great shame that he left ITN for LNN after not getting the News at Ten gig.

Anyone who wants to see Alex again she will be on the late update this morning at around 2 and the morning news at 5:30 for you will people who are up. Sadly not me Sad

I thought it was a nice send-off for Alastair, and it is sad that we'll see less of Alastair and Katie presenting together - I guess they will be reunited from time to time on either the Evening News or News at Ten but I suppose there will be less of the banter (it wouldn't really be acceptable for a national news bulletin!) But it is great to see Alastair becoming the main face of ITV News' political coverage.

Good to hear that Alex Hyndman is staying with ITN albeit with the overnight bulletins.

A nice ending with the old LT end theme too!

Yes that piece of music is absolutely stunning. I don't suppose anyone has it do they?

God, the old music was great, just makes you look back and realise that with actual instruments, it's much better than the noise we have now.

Ridiculous that LT and the national news both led on the Godstone Farm story with near-identical packages from Sharon Thomas and Harry Smith - same GVs, same vox pops, same walk-and-talk piece.

it always makes me laugh when even when it isn't that big of a story , they sometimes have 2 near enough identical reports and sometimes "lives". whats the point of sending 2 reporters ??

The joys of the same company producing both services on a shared editing platform...

But it wasn't just shared pictures - they had two reporters both in-vision walking round the same farmyard to produced packages shown 10 minutes apart.

Often if LT and the national news are doing the same story, London will do a different take on it, and say 'you can see more on that story coming up on the ITV national news after this bulletin'.

That's a fair enough approach; but there didn't appear to be any joined-up thinking on this occasion.
