It is a wierd channel.

I remember watching a bit of it after the State of the Union address back in January, when Bush announced that all the oil-soaked Arab countries would be "freed" as part of his campaign to bring "democracy" to the Middle East.

For the next couple of days, all the anchormen and women were wetting themselves with excitement about his speech, and trying to whip up the same in their guests.

There is actually a blog dedicated to reporting on FNC's wierdness - bookmark here and enjoy!

On the other hand - given that there often seems to be more incisive comment on political situations on The Daily Show than there does on network news, having a Jon Stewart commentary on a network news show (clearly flagged as such) might actually be an improvement - at least he seems to ask obvious, difficult questions...

True, I suppose.

I recall Jon Stewart going on CNN's Crossfire and shouting that the entire programme was pointless theatre and ''ruining America''.

Only took them 25 years to work it out.

Yep - that's a great bit of video that has spread around the internet like nobody's business. Also true.

I'd rather watch The Daily Show than Fox News any day - and I'd probably learn more watching the Daily Show as well.

Anything's better than Fox News - you get more factual information from the Jamster small-text Laughing

Don't think this has been mentioned so far, but amazing to hear that CNN's Bill Hemmer has gone to Fox News Channel this past week.

He's not on-air yet, but find it pretty surprising that he's apparently gone from CNN's morning show to a Fox ''daytime'' slot.

At least they describe The Times as 'The Times of London' rather than he usual 'The London Times'. The concept of national newspapers is rare in the US, but no matter how many times it is pointed out that The Times isn't a paper for London.... they still can't get to grips with it

Yes, but remember that the average FNC journalist can barely recognise that there are other countries beyond the America. With that in mind, do you really think he's stopped to consider that there might be other places in England besides London?

According to Fox News, Leeds is now in the midlands.

Considering that the average FNC journalist thinks that 'UK', 'Britain' and 'England' are all interchangeable terms referring to the entire British Isles, from his point of view, Leeds is in the midlands.

Haven't watched it for a good while now, but do they still continually put up a 'Terror Alert: High' caption, completely at random, to remind their viewers that dubya's 'War on Terror' is still going on?

Not to mention the fact that myself and others who decended on London before the War in Iraq were described as a "Clear failing to understand the principa" and majority "Trouble Makers" before the arse raised his eyebrows.

Kind of makes one proud of Ofcom for a minute, before reality kicks back in...

BBC NewsWatch Online - "Fair and Balanced"

It would be a disaster if Fox's version of 'fair and balanced' became the norm

Apologies if mentioned elsewhere, but thought this might be of interest to you guys.
