The two company directors are a former Liberty Global exec, and current Liberty Global board director (Andrew Cole) who has this to say on his LinkedIn page:

"Co-founder of GB News a new TV channel for the UK and EU markets. Disclosures pending. ... We intend to challenge the BBC and other incumbent news channels. People looking for something different. We have secured our senior team: including major industry executives as our Editor and CEO. Investor response has been excellent."

"Watch out for announcements of famous presenters and the launch of a completely new TV news channel for the U.K. - one that will be distinctly different from the out of touch incumbents. The people need and want this new perspective."

Well whatever is due to launch, just be wary. When FauxNews started it wasnt nearly the channel it is today. A frothing racist mouthpiece. And even if it launches as a streaming channel, it still bears monitoring.

Nick Ferrari springs to mind as someone who could join this channel as one of the opinion presenters. He was one of the panelists on The Pledge where he was allowed that gig in addition to his main job on LBC.

Nigel Farage already mentioned could do a phone-in, which he's more than capable of presenting and took calls from pro Europeans on LBC which would provide balance.

I wouldn't be surprised if Richard Tice is offered a slot with another opinion show, same for the Brexit Party's Alexandra Phillips who is also media savvy. (RT has former politicians including George Galloway, Alex Salmond and Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh).

Obviously it's early days yet, but they could go down the Sky News Australia route, impartial by day with a skew towards the right-wing with the opinion shows on in the evening during prime time.

I'm sure if they're lucky, there would always be room for the likes of Darren Grimes and Brendan O'Neill cause they seem to get increasing appearances these days.

Oh god. It really would be alt-right with those two involved.

Considering Grimes was on Sunday Morning Live, along with hard-left economist Grace Blakeley this morning, anything is possible!

It really wouldn’t.

All I've seen on this thread so far is people discussing how right-wing will presenters have to be to qualify for the channel.

I worry that a channel bases solely around a certain political alignment just further influences the demise of impartial news. Whether a channel of the sort comes along as right or left, it strengthens the ability to only receive news from sources that reaffirm your views.

Obviously, free press is something that should be respected and whether you agree with them or not - opinion pieces respected. But when you bring this into a format where you have a rolling news channel - in competition with only two other UK news channels - I worry that it will do what FOX News aims to do and that is to make - no matter what the situation - those they support like knights in shining armour.

Clearly, the "scum media" troopers will love the idea of a news channel that doesn't see a blink wrong in anyone in government. It will however, fuel the "#DefundTheBBC" brigade even more.

Any channel with bias is a negative for the once taken for granted impartial news provided by the BBC and Sky.

Given the Twitterati already call Grimes worse terms than that, he'd have to do a lot of suing. If he was to sue somebody, it'd be a person who has some form of prominence for whom he'd get publicity for rather than a TVF member which wouldn't go down well.

I had mearly forgotten about the Richard Littlejohn show on Sky News.I seem to remember that was his second Sky News show. Iirc the other one was at 8pm and slot shared with "3D" a show Kate Silverton was a presenter on.
