They're "leftie" because they aren't fully behind the government and brexit and dare to be critical and ask questions.
Doesn't matter they can be just as critical of the opposition (does anyone think Corbyn got an easy ride for example, even from the media that gets accused of being "left leaning"?), the fact they don't worship the ground Boris walks on means they're a bunch of lefties.

I'm for freedom of speech but not when it spins off into hate speech. My political views have always been left wing ( but not marxist/communist) There are many views on both the left and right that I profoundly disagree with but I do believe those views should be aired provided they don't lead to anything nasty. (Hence my fantasy post yesterday)
GB News will find a market. That much I'm sure of and I'm sure that it will have views that I will disagree with. It's a case of how much publicity the channel will get.
Part of the problem is many of the people who bang on about "freedom of speech" don't seem to understand it doesn't mean freedom from critisism or consequence. They think it means they should be able to say what they like with no comeback.

And therein lies the issue. Television has tremendous power to influence people and there are those who would seek to use the power of television to spread lies and hatred.

Yes. It all gets quite tedious when mainstream news providers are branded ‘left’ or ‘right’, when they’re basically as straight down the middle and fair as can possibly be.
(Anyone suggesting Sky News was a bit towards the right would have slightly more of an argument, given the live coverage of migrants the other week).
The fact is, when you're biased yourself, especially if you have a strong bias in one direction or another, being reasonably neutral will come across as biased from your POV.

Well, if they were we would have a problem because then it would not really be a free system. But at the same time they don't seem to pick up on certain things. They are obsessed with progressive ventures and the like. Headlines and the pivot of a story tend to take a left leaning view point. In a sense they are almost childish. As I said before, my theory is that this is to win over a new younger generation. As long as they recognise that vast numbers of people will turn away also.
The media bubble has always been against Corbyn and Brexit. This will never change because those in the bubble simply cannot understand why both events occurred. And of course they hate that they did. This clouds their judgement. They try to understand, but they do not truly, and I think this terrifies them. They try to latch onto what they think is current in the public mood, but Twitter does not equal the public mood. Again and again events keep occurring which are beyond their comprehension. They are out of touch and their downfall will be a slow but certain affair. What is it that is coming? I really have no idea. I suspect we will end up with what America has. Real biased news with both sides taking extremes to get the views and clicks.

I'm sure that
every
journalist has their own opinions about issues but 99% of them realise that they have to work and therefore keep their opinions to themselves. I personally don't feel that Sky, BBC or ITV are either left or right but I will concede that the opinions of reporters may reveal their true feelings.
If
GB News goes ahead and
if
they lead to left leaning alternatives then its possible that OFCOM may insist on each bulletin and programme start and/or finish with a disclaimer. Something like:
The views expressed in this programme outside the actual bulletins are those of the contributor and don't reflect the views of this station

What is it that the BBC and Sky are supposed to have done?
As far as I know they just got in a boat and asked the migrants questions while they were in a dingy.
I know Nigel Farage was trying to do the same thing and this was gaining some traction. Evidently the main outlets decided to try and take control. Many interpreted this as the media bowing to Farage, but instead they saw that he was gaining attention and wanted a piece of the pie and to try and take attention away from him. I'd think most people criticising the main outlets would think this a good thing.

I've not seen the footage you're talking about but it seems to me that The BBC and Sky were simply doing their job.
