Surprised to see a shot of Obama with Jon Sopel in one of them, won't that seem a bit dated after the election is wrapped up and Obama is a lot less prominent?

He's still POTUS so I guess it's worth having him there. World does a airs a trail ever so often about Jon Sopel's interview for their Live the Story campaign. I'm suprised at how long certain clips have been retained for so long like Jane Hill* (fun note I didn't know who she was until recently was the anchor who was cued by a man who dressed far to casually for a DC winter) and Daniel Craig's interview for Skyfall back in 2012.

How big of a crew is necessary for the few seconds of clip that make it into the filler?

*The only times I have seen her were during double headed breaking news coverage with one anchor for NC and the other for WN.

In most cases with the reporters behind the scenes, it's like watching the 'B-roll' of the original top of the hours.

Still have the amusing sight of Ben Brown in a blue anti-blast vest, when his cameraman doesn't...

Great work as always, and glad a "presenter in a shiny reflection" shot has been kept!

It's been around a few years now, but still a favourite bit from the last batch:

Other faces in the new countdown is: Reeta Chakrabarti, Ben Thompson, Jeremy Bowen, Karin Giannone.

I've spotted that there are different versions of reporter shots in different countdowns, Lizo has 2 versions for example, one of him talking to Daniel Craig and one to Tom Hiddleston.

9 different versions with 3 published online so far, trying to name a few in each of them:

1. https://vimeo.com/175705937
George Alagiah, Justin Rowlatt, Lizo Mzimba, Sophie Raworth, Ed Thomas, Vicki Young, Lyse Doucet, Jane Hill, Judith Moritz, Huw Edwards

2. https://vimeo.com/175706280
Hywel Griffiths, Victoria Derbyshire, Laura Trevelyn, Quentin Somerville, Karishma Vaswani, David Shukman, Alastair Leithead, Ros Atkins, Katya Adler, Dan Roan

3. https://vimeo.com/175706278
Simon McCoy, Jessica Creighton, Annita McVeigh, Ben Brown, Orla Geurin, Kamal Ahmed, Steph McGovern, Jon Sopel, Christian Fraser, Olly Foster

Overall much more colourful then the originals! Not keen on the higher up presenters such as George and Victoria being at the beginning of the countdown meaning they won't be shown most of the time. But thats not for me to say until we see all 9 countdowns.

Good to see new additions to the countdown such as Jessica, Steph, Kamal as they are becoming more a significant part of the team.

EDIT: Another version just shown at 5, with Gavin Esler, Lyse Doucet, Chris Buckler, Daniel Sandford, and Sophie Raworth

Here's some of the ones you missed:

The first one above opens with Wyre Davies in Rio, and features Tulip Mazumdar after Sophie Raworth, and Jonah Fisher after Judith Moritz.

The second one opens with Rebecca Morelle, Nikki Fox after Quentin Sommerville, and then Steve Rosenberg, with Wyre Davies again after Alastair Leithead.

The third one also features Ian Pannell just after the snow scene.

Good to see a far wider selection of correspondents being featured this time.

They look good, but I wish they had a bit more of the red 'transmission lines' (my, possibly wrong, recollection is that earlier versions used this more).

I do like the 'connectivity spider's web' coming from equipment - again, wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

I'm wondering if the The Mill did the "vfx" data line shots again or whether the new ones were done in house?

Not sure about some of the footage chosen - Victoria Derbyshire sitting not doing very much, Laura Trevelyan sorting her hair out - surely it would give a better impression to see them at work (talking to camera, on the phone, talking to producers etc.)?

These updated countdowns are really nice, I like how there is more variety and not lots of poor ptc shots like a few variations in the past. Some of them kind of remind me of a mock countdown I did for One News here in NZ a few years ago using promo footage. Excuse the poor frame rate and quality, used an old computer. There is even a bang at a thunderclap lol https://youtu.be/mOKO2sD-LcU

Is it cynical of me to note the 'B1' countdown feels like it was deliberate not to feature any presenters, save for Victoria Derbyshire at the very beginning, at a time when the future of the news channel was in doubt and where even now further cuts/changes are likely?

I'd also be surprised if none of the following faces emerged in any countdowns: Laura Kuenssberg, Clive Myrie, Gavin Esler, Simon Jack, John Pienaar/Norman Smith. It would also be nice if Maxine Mawhinney and Martine Croxall featured in one, especially given the latter has reported on location more in recent years.

I don't understand why Karin Giannone is featured when she's rarely on the NC, covering for Ros Atkins. She's more known to BBC Four viewers in the UK.
