That's the 3rd new version I've seen today - I wonder how many there are? So far the ones I've seen have all had an international theme. No doubt there'll be UK versions to show later in the evening???
Mediaboy in the other thread says 8 - 4 daytime, 4 night ones.
sorry, but IMHO these are utter pants! Some nicely shot vt, some ok editing, mixing timelapse, and realtime (?) then add some red lines which, most of the time look like lasers from a 1970's episode of Doctor Who. So they worked out how to track graphics onto a shot! And?
Is it DHL or a rip-off of the Prosieben News relaunch (thiink it's them, not sure - i'll check n come back) Anyone know who's responsible? If it's in house at least they couldn't have wasted much of the 'cuts' budget

I haven't yet seen it on the telly (only the video that's been posted in this thread), but I do rather like it. Very snazzy indeed!
The red running line reminds me of the Vote 2001 ident and, as has been said, a DHL advert; the milliseconds remind me of the Sky vote 2001 countdown. Better than the old one by miles, though.
Certainly a lot more "we're the BBC and we're FAB" too!
I'm actually surprised there's still no News 24 branding as such on the countdown which has been absent since it went DOG-less in 2003.
Overall, I really like the new countdown sequences. They're so much more dynamic, urgent and pacy. For most of the sequence, the music sounds more dramatic, although I'm not sure about the last five seconds - it seems to go really discordant.

I suppose you could argue all them shots of News 24's "Newsroom" could count (get it!) as a branding objective.
Then of course theres the red, endless red of News24 and them beam things are used alot as N24 branding on the trailers and now the countdowns.
Can I ask a really stupid question here... Why can't News 24 make a countdown that ties in with the rest of the channel's look? I mean, I know the current titles are pretty poor, but even so, a bit of consistency would be nice. It's not that I don't like what they've done here - I do. The music's fantastic, and some of the imagery is superb, but why couldn't they use the same font as the rest of the news output - Swis721 - and where have these straight lines come from, when the titles have ribbons and fragments of circles? I'm not saying they should have adopted the BBC World countdown - but surely they could have integrated the core graphic elements of the BBC News look in there somehow?
I like it - but I just don't think it fits in with BBC News.
