CNBC Europe is currently airing what looks like a whole new graphics package. Saw it earlier this morning on Squawk Box Europe, and is now on Worldwide Exchange so I am guessing US viewers are also seeing it now.
Looks a lot simpler, less extravagant than the old look. Looks like they've also had a custom font created for them. Italicised , the font closely resembles Crillee, but with minor differences.
I hate to say it, but it looks like CNBC is adopting a version of the current MSNBC package. I just saw a breaking news strap on screen and it looks like a poor relative of that on MSNBC. With the information bar across the top of the screen, should we expect a revision to the NBC Nightly News package? After all, the graphics on NBC Today bear a striking resemblance to those of MSNBC. Crossplatform (and outlet) branding?
The new CNBC graphics are also being used by CNBC US, so it looks like they want to standardize graphics worldwide. Presumeably CNBC Asia will start using them later today. Last nights Squawk Box Asia had the old graphics.
Well, its been a long time coming - CNBC US certainly got a lot of use out of their old graphics package since they'd been using it since 2005 (albeit with some alterations since 2006)! The previous one (with the psychedelic graphics and lowercase fonts for programme names) lasted a mere two years, although CNBC Europe was STILL making use of elements of it up to recently (though I think European Closing Bell was the last bastion of the titles/music from that era to make it to 2010).
But wait - I see the Squawk Box logo is still the same. Have they not updated the logos? I see European Closing Bell has abandoned its final vestiges of the 2003 era and adopted a US-style logo - back to the pre 2003 days of using slightly modified versions of the US title sequences I take it?
I like the change. The previous sci-fi graphics were too dreary and dated (though I will admit I thought they were cool when they debuted).
Also, we have a new ticker in the US (not the one in the caps above). It's white and teal. Also, we only have two tickers. Why is there a third one in those caps?
Here's some more caps. 3 from Squawk Box Europe, The new ident used between progrtammes and ads and the new Squawk Box US animated graphic. Notice the similarities with the colour orange introduced. Also the music theme used on Squawk US is now used on Squawk Europe.
Interestingly CNBC Asia have still not changed their graphics. Also, in answer to Charles' question. In Europe we have a news ticker during the business day unlike the US and Asia.

Well, to answer my own question, the logos (for US programmes) are the same but there seem to be new title sequences. Also I see the previous music has been retained too.
