As expected, he's devoted the entire show to Thursday's events, also name checking people, who have congratulated him for his work on BBC London, which was partly simulcast on BBC WM's Doolan show!
He's now off for 4 Saturdays. Tony Butler will be sitting in.
Interesting to see Daniel Pallet presenting yesterdays lunchtime edition of Midlands Today. Lets hope he dont take over from Steve as Nick's replacement...
Why doesn't Michael Collie cover the 1830 much anymore?
Great comedy moment on tonight's MT, with Simes getting drenched!
Now a little something I've nicked from the Beeb's Press Office site (a few notes from yours truly too!):
BBC Coventry & Warwickshire today (Monday 11 July) announces its new line-up of presenters.
And the all-new station could hardly get off to a better start as former BBC London 94.9FM presenter Jon Gaunt hits the airwaves on the breakfast show between 7.00 and 10.00am on Monday 5 September. (BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's first broadcast is on Saturday 3 September).
Jon, who currently broadcasts his Saturday morning show on the station, is as passionate as ever about returning to his roots: "I am overjoyed at being asked to come back to broadcast in Coventry.
"I've had a look around the studios and I can honestly say that the BBC is back bigger and better than before.
"I'm a Coventry kid, and I and the rest of the team are determined that this will be Coventry and Warwickshire's station."
The straight-talking presenter continues: "I am looking forward to entertaining, informing and even upsetting a few of my listeners!"
Gaining former BBC Radio 1's Liz Kershaw's signature is also a coup for the station.
Liz, who presents on BBC 6 Music, brings a wealth of experience to the station, including time spent at other BBC local radio stations in Leeds and Northamptonshire.
She says: "This new venture for BBC Coventry & Warwickshire marks a whole new world of radio for the 21st century and I'm very excited about hosting my new show here.
"Starting with a clean slate in a brand new building with a great team of people, I'll be proud to present a fresh, lively and informed show," Liz continues, "Serving up all the local, national, and international news and views that anyone will need to live their lives in and around Coventry."
Former breakfast show favourite, Annie Othen, now gets time for a cup of tea in the morning before beginning her new weekday show (10.00am to 1.00pm) at the Priory Place-based station.
Annie says: "It's fantastic news. When the then Director-General Greg Dyke came on my programme 18 months or so ago to announce the development of the new station and the new building, it seemed such a long way away - and now it's happening!
"Out of our broom cupboard in Holt Street and into a fabulous new building with a fully-fledged radio station for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire.
"For me, it will be wonderful to present the morning programme. This is the first time for a good many years that we can broadcast our very own mid-morning show to everyone in the region and I am really looking forward to it."
Bob Brolly stays in his current weekday slot from 1.00-4.00pm and on Monday to Thursday is followed by Liz Kershaw between 4.00 and 7.00pm.
Anita Miah takes to the air between 7.00 and 10.00pm for three hours of community interaction from BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's open centre and, depending on their run of form, gives Coventry City supporters the chance to cheer or jeer their footballing heroes during the season.
Jimmy Franks continues with the late show between 10.00pm and 1.00am with his usual mix of music and musings.
BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Managing Editor David Clargo says: "I'm delighted we've been able to bring together a team of presenters of such calibre to make an outstanding presentation line-up.
"They are passionate about Coventry and Warwickshire and I'm sure will become a compelling part of people's radio listening," he continues.
"The new radio services launch in September and we can hardly wait to hit the airwaves from our new home at Priory Place.
BBC Coventry & Warwickshire broadcasts on 94.8FM, 103.7FM and 104FM from its new premises from 3 September 2005.

Wow nice lineup! Will be good to hear Liz Kershaw - she's great! Jon Gaunt is interesting - though compared to Annie Othen I think I'd rather listen to him on breakfast.
Will Hanrahan too!
Still not enough publicity for the station yet though...
The colour was much fresher, the backdrop was brighter and looked higher up, the seats looked better, and does the desk. Now the studio backdrop is a mess, the seats are too bright, and the colour of the studio is an over-strong blue. Bring back the studio that was first launched.
Just to let you guys know that I had a reply from Dan Barton regarding the set... he said "but keep an eye out as we may be changing that later on" as regarding the window.
