The NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

What on earth just happened at the start of Midlands Today? There was no ident, and instead started with a wide shot of the studio, with the six signing off on the big screen. Looked awful, especially as the 6:30 program is the only one that actually starts properly instead of simply a hand to the regions. It also means that the six didn't get a proper close. Lets hope it isn't perminant.

It happened on South Today too, so I have a feeling it might be.

Anyone spotted the newspaper re Llewella Bailey's current absence?

To summarise, her husband's passed on, from reoccurence of throat cancer, so Llew has been spending time with him, including a final family holiday.

I'm sure someone will elaborate more, or else check out the Express & Star or Evening Mail, & their websites.

Peter Tomlinson was on Doolan's show today, in his new capacity as Brum Children's Hospital 'fundraising supremo', & there are plans for an 'Other Side Of ' soon. (I'm sure at least one of you has a contact at BBC Brum.(Doesn't 'Mr B' know that taffie tech op Fat Matt, I think?)

Also some guy from Willenhall was after a 1979 edition featuring the Real Thing pop group, because his late brother was on it !

Doolan told the guy, to write into him with details, & he might have a contact to ask!

Six ending also happened here in the North West. Straight into NWT titles with no regional ident.

North West Tonight had a North West Today lunchtime start - i.e full titles, "hello I'm .... welcome to NWT, the headlines tonight" with a sting following the headlines. Truly awful.

It's a good job I don't live in the CWR area, or else loads of p*** take text messages would be the order of the day.

It'll be interesting to see if anyone actually sticks with CWR, once the split happens.

Surely the majority of the listeners would be used to the likes of Doolan & Franksy by now & 95.6 is receivable in Coventry I believe.

Hehe, that mop was all one colour, and her hair was multi colour. Talking of dead animals, she was or did want to become a vet? Might explain it...
