Did anyone see our very own Sarah-Jane Mee co-presenting the Boat Race on Sunday??

SJM is getting around, she also interviewed Jermaine Defoe for London Today/Tonight, although I suspect it was shared with Central West?

yeh central were labeling it as an "exclusive". no mention of the strike on central - itll be interesting to see if they mention it tomorrow.

over on bbc mids

nice newsroom opening

patrick burns starts to tour the midlands in the midlands today election car, not quite as flashy as patrick's gold rover, but never mind...

and an interesting shot we havent seen before

and another interesting angle

and the live down the line interview with some mp wasn't with the usual westminster backdrop ... instead something very reminiscent of an early edition of the midlands at westminster ...

bbc mids seem to be out-doing central's coverage of the rover crisis. last night they had peter plisner in the studio at 10.25, to update nick on the breaking news, while central only had peter hayes (political correspondent) on his mobile phone in the late bulletin.

then during breakfast bbc mids had extensive coverage including a live OB with peter plisner at longbridge. me thinks it might be a long day for peter.

as well informed as peter plisner obviously is, it is a shame mark foster, recently departed business correspondent, isn't still around to cover the story. seeing as he's covered the saga over the past few years.

Yeah pitty about Patrick he was almost joined to Longbridge.

MT have outdone themselves with coverage of this one. Central, I know theres a strike but jesus....
Peter has also been very good and must now be tired... Its a sad day for the west midlands.

jo MElin is the central scab ... mind you steve keeling - mr union himself was reporting live too. but i guess its nowt to do with the NUJ. but sadly no noticable sign of the strike on screen - not even a report.

oh and interesting that central west have been broadcasting in widescreen all day today. all reports filmed in 16:9, even the dog correctly positioned for widescreen - whilst the studio cameras are being cropped to 14:9. very odd. mind you its an aspect ratio switch-a-thon.

4:3 > 16:9 itn hand over to central
16:9 > 4:3 for weather sponsor
4:3 > 14:9 letterbox for weather (not really an aspect change, but anyway)
14:9 > 4:3 for weather sponsor
4:3 > 16:9 jo signs off
16:9 > 4:3 hand back to itn

Hey, forget the 5,000 people look are looking at being made redundant...

..Let's worry about the widescreen switching aspect on the news reports about it instead. Rolling Eyes

People who say things like that should be lined up against the wall and nasty things done to them.

Go to the MG Rover Forum.

This is a TV presentation forum. Yes it's a sad day for MG Rover, but not for TV Presentation. Wink

entire lunchtime midlands today came from outside longbridge. effective - although they chose to position nick outside a rather indescript door, that could have been anywhere. shefali did the weather from the mailbox terrace, so they didn’t use the studio at all.

caught a bit of radio wm's coverage by accident in the car, fantastic as always. i can never understand why, on days like this, they dont replace the regional trail after the lunchtime news with a still caption pointing people to radio wm.

Nick did say the 6.30 edition would come from Longbridge. Midlands Today is really showing itself off here. Central News can barly manage a correspondent live from Longbrdge let alone an OB from the factory.
Nick has also shown himself to be a born presenter, he really managed the OB well and last night was very effective.

Does anyone know what Centrals plans are to cover the collapse of the one of the regions biggest employers?

Jo Malin was on UK Today on the ITV NC - it sounded as though CN@6 would also be live from Longbridge.
