So can anyone tell me why the sudden surge in interest in Chris James ? I caught him on Central west a few sundays ago. What the hell is all the fuss about?

His PR people have certainly gone into overdrive. Rather too soon I would say from what I saw on screen. Yes he was OK .To me it was all an act. He's obviously been watching some other presenters and decided to copy.
Keep watching them Chris. You will get there I'm sure.
"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery " However you have to be able to pull it off and not look like an actor pretending to be" A Presenter" on a tv drama.

Remember. Self appraisal is NO recommendation ! Wink
Did I read he is a reporter on HTV?

Chris James is a reporter for Central West not HTV...personally I think Tom Parmenter is sexier!!!!!

Ive never seen a reporter called Chris James on HTV either. Confused

Apparantley, there is a Dalek & a TARDIS in the public space at the Mailbox at the mo, according to Mollie Green ! (I did suggest by text, if the Dalek was still there by Saturday, could it exterminate Gaunt ! Laughing )

Franksy is off this week, with Mike Taylor sitting in on Drivetime, with Tony Butler also looking after the Friday phone in as well.

I suppose the 'final' Tony & Julie Late Show was last week, as Tony's sitting in for Doolan this week, & Julie's (I think) is flying solo probably, but I haven't heard the show this week yet to check.

I think I'll have to listen on Thursday night, for old time's sake, plus I'm supposed to be off Friday, so I'll try to catch Waddo, for his final shift on WM.

Guys, guys, guys

This began as a perfectly healthy appraisal of a young, thrusting,

apparently dull presenter and has turned into an obsession. No

regional presenter gets this kind of press! I begining to think the kid

may have something afterall. Shape-up, start bitching about ME-lin or

Midlands Today's technical hitches or SOMETHING. Unless of course

you actually think he's good!!! Well, he's not. And sodding Tom

Parmenter sexy? Well, if you like the pasty, smug, slightly anaemic

types...

Not sure if anyone could confirm this but is this Nick off on a Wednesday becoming a permanent feature. I recently wrote an article when Nick was at a local golf function, he was truly funny. Steve/Suzanne coupling is excellent, very well suited. Hope that they continue this and its also good seeing Dan in sports lead.
Shef is just getting better and better, not that she was never brill but I remember when she stood in for Suz for the first time and had terrible probs with the autocue but now is just a brilliant as the rest of the team.
Midlands Today truly is one of the BBC's gems.

P.S. The article I wrote on Nick is on our website :

There has also been some rumours that Shropshire is to receive its own interactive service on Sky and Cable......Can't wait.

Oh and Tvmercia, excellent as ever. Just wondering though would they really have a countdown? or is it just going to be like News24 interactive bulletin.
Midlands Today truly the BBC gems in the crown of news.

Well, after 14 years of asking us to 'beg his parsnips', WM's Tony Wadsworth (& wife Julie Mayer) 'slapped it on the table' for the final time, firstly with the Late Show last night, then this morning standing in for Doolan.

Notable discussion last night was about vasectomies, plus a chat with their 'urban spaceman', the local Planentary Society's Andy Lowne !

There was also a much requested rerun of Julie laughing after hearing a Viagra joke!

This morning, apart from a discussion about what to do this weekend (Avoid listening to Gaunt IMO Laughing ), a few people popped on air, to say goodbye, including former WM presenter, Chris Baxter(he of 'There's a couple I know' jingle fame !), now at BBC Nottingham, with a suprisingly good impression of Waddo !

Talking of Gaunt, normally he pops on air just after 12 on Fridays, to plug his show, but his boss turned up instead, on the line from BBC London!

David Robey(or 'Ropey Dave', according to Londumb's web site forum!), used to work at both Leicester & WM with Waddo.

On the Goldberg breakfast show(which was broadcast across all frequencies. Annie Othen across all areas on Monday BTW!), they were running a competition to guess where Easter Eggs were hidden, plus the lovely Cayte Walker was sent to the Critters Creek nature reserve in Sedgley, near Wolverhampton, to help name 2 rabbits. Last I heard the names winning were 'Sedge' & Lee' ! (Sedgley. Geddit!)

Les Ross in for Doolan next week BTW !

Well yours truly made an appearence on air with Les Ross, after I sent a text in praising the new series of Doctor Who, but pointing out some plank in London had faded up the Graham Norton studio sound twice during the show, so Jenner (Les & Danny Kelly's producer) rung me back & put me on air, to chat to Les himself.

I was a bit surprised, bearing in mind when my mobile rang, it came up 'Private Number', which I found strange. Normally anything like that I'm wary of, in case someone's trying to pull a scam, like a good little 'Ed Doolan' listener I am !

Also Sunday, we finally had 'The Other Side Of Mollie Green' !

Apart from confirming she is odd (Tell us something we don't know, Mollie !), she admitted her birth date was 1 May 1975, so you know when to send the cards!(P*** take text messages in my case !)

Her choice of music was :

Carole King - You've Got A Friend

Village People - Ymca (She won a Bronze disco dance medal at the age of six with this one!)

George Michael - You Have Been Loved

Ella Fitzgerald - In The Still Of The Night

Eva Cassidy - Over The Rainbow

Prince - Purple Rain

She confirmed she's a veggie, after her mother explained what happened to a cow she used to see regurlary

She also spoke fondly of Malcolm Boyden, & is still 'affected' by his departure from WM a year ago. (That one still puzzles me, after Herr Flick's 'explanation' the day after, then Malcolm's reappearence once a week on Hereford & Worcester, just after the start of the current footy season. He also did 12 till 2 on Saturday just gone too, according to the Express & Star listings, as well)

The ten questions some Frog bloke come up, that the 'Actors Studio' also use were :

Favourite Word : Flan (?)

Least Favourite Word : Couldn't think of one 1

Turns her on : Kindness etc

Turns her off: Cruelty

Favourite swear word : Something to do with Arsene Wenger (?)

Favourite sounds : pet sounds.

Hates : Nail biting(that's me out then !) & bells !

Is there an afterlife : Yes

Other job she would love for a day : US President (Well anyone's got to be better than the current one!)

Hate job : None

Keith Middleton doing the Late Show for the next couple of weeks, before Jimmy Franks takes over.
