definately. but i'd rather bbc mids tried and fell a little short, than not try at all. i really think this is the kind of thing the bbc need to do more often. itv (well central) were fantastic at responding to big news with "30 minutes" specials or central news specials - be they pan or sub regional. sadly central is no more.
well presented, and the studio discussion worked, but i think nick ought to have given the contributors, especially the police bod a harder grilling. placing it straight after panorama really did emphasise the lack of probing questions.
really liked the studio design. first time we have seen the studio used like that - really liked the pictures on the wall.

A good programme if a little sensationalist.
Good to see BBC Midlands still do this kind of thing, but I dont think I got much out of it. The West Midlands Police bod certainly didn't get anyway near enough of a grilling.

Must agree there, some effort is certainly better than none and it is duly noted. But the wrong side of the whole story methinks.
Why not have those people on as soon as the tragedy happened? Probing the police cheifs and asking why it was allowed to happen? That kind of thing usually goes down very well with the punters and will usually get some very good responses from all parties involved.
I think the fact the killers are having an appeal on the fact they faced 'one of the most unfair trials on modern times' was not discussed. The fact the trial was revolutionary was mentioned but no questions raised over it.

Has Midlands Today changed its titles today? maybe to the summer version as into the afternoon summary just now, there was a shot that I hadn't seen before:

All of them are terrible, except Bob, gawd lub im. Are you surprised there are no male presenters to speak off. Tom Parmenter is hardly Mark Bolton, Darren Little is all huff and puff and as for that Chris bloke: Charismatic? Cheeky? No, just terribly average. As far as ME-lin is concerned, she remains an ego in a wig.
Face it Central News' best years are behind it. Gone are Bob Hall, Robin Powell, Joel Hills, Jon Ray and Mark Bolton. All have departed and taken most of the talent and swagger with them (Mark Gough is the notable exception). Central News is not bad, it's just dull. I rarely watch it.

I think it was introduced to coinside with the opening of the peice. Isn't it great that MT is doing this. Keeps things fresh and up-to-date, you can even see the hills near my house now a days.
