My god, tonights Central News at Six, got to be the worsed programme ever. Hole show dedicated to one story, sorry but that was too much. Not even one sports story, considering a big weekend in sport! 10 minutes or so yes, but not 25

I dont usually damn Central News, but tonights programme was perfectic, so was that background image!

midlands today were the same, altho nick did read quickly through a few sports stories

slightly different programme opening with no headline sequence, breaking news in the newsroom about the stolen body, then back to the aston shootings. bbc mids didnt even return to london for the 6.55 update in london, we had a trailer instead for the "midlands today special" on sunday.

id like to think central would bother with a special documentary. they used to be very good at getting shows together at short notice - like the national stadium.

I know this is major news, but a hole programme, and to say this happened a few years ago now.

What sort of age group do BBC WM Radio head towards? Ive had a look at their online pages, and most of the presenters seem to be "past it".

I'm 34 in a few weeks, & I like some of the WM stuff, but I suppose if I was a lot younger, I'd go for a music station.

Is Johnathan Ray the same guy that's covering a few radio station duties, 'cos I've seem him listed for Radio Shropshire ?

BBC WM aim at anyone, the smaller midland regions like Shrops aim at the older person

Just to clarify recent news, some of you may not have heard. (As nicked from Waddo's own site !)

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Tony & Julie leave BBC WM.

After fourteen years presenting programmes, Tony & Julie are to join BBC RADIO LEICESTER.

Julie will present the Late Show solo for her final week and will bow-out on Thursday March 24th.

Tony meanwhile will present Ed Doolan's programme the same week finishing on Friday March 25th. Note : Doolan is off for 2 weeks at this point, with Les Ross doing the other week(can't remember which week though!)

They write:

"We're excited at the propsect of returning to our home county and all the professional challenges that lie ahead.
But we're also sad to be saying farewell to the West Midlands & Warwickshire where we've felt at home for so long.
We'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of our programmes either by appearing on the shows or by listening.
We're particularly proud of the Late Show which, over the years, has achieved the highest figures in the programme's history.
We wish our successor, Jimmy Franks every success and trust you'll support him as you've supported us."

BBC WM Editor Keith Beech writes:

"Tony and Julie are to play an important part in restructuring Radio Leicester's schedule and I'm sure they'll be a great success.
In the four years I've been here, they've presented Breakfast, Drivetime and the Late Show and have been a success at all three.
I wish them the very best of luck. They will be missed."

Tony & Julie can be heard on BBC RADIO LEICESTER 104.9 FM from Monday April 11th.

More details to follow soon.

Looking at the likes of Digital Spy & UK Radio.Com, I get the impression that people wanted Keith Middleton instead.

The only problem I have with Jimmy Franks, is (I've mentioned this before) he doesn't seem to dip the sound when announcing over records, so he's hard to hear sometimes.

All the best Tony & Julie, you'll be missed.

Shame Herr Flick decided in the Shabina era to cut it by an hour & start it later! (Bl**dy football !)

Looks like Rob Underwood has taken over the 'other' Late Show from Frances Finn too!
