OB trucks and sat links are expensive, so it makes sense to save money and do as-lives on less important stories. its a trick i have seen central and virtually every other regional news employ, so i'm not sure what your point is.
i don’t think anyone claims that "central's standards are bad" ... the news agenda and banality crept in as soon as central news became part of the "itv news group". the news agenda and style of the show is set by suits in london, who obviously want to thrust the london tonight (not the LNN version, that wasn’t as inane) style upon everyone.
i do not think anyone could possibly argue that central news of the same high standard as the 0ctober 2001 relaunch. fantastic titles, music, set and a great line up of presenters, reporters and sports reporters. now bob hall, mark bolton, jon ray, robin powell, anne nankeville et al have disappeared (and llew seemingly demoted to afternoons) bob warmans face and jo malins legs are the only recognisable bits left.
i'm not sure i will continue to debate with you if youre going to be katherine-esque and defend central news to the death because you have some strange unfounded loyalty to them.
Well my point is, is that its the 2nd main programme of the day, and its the TWO TOP stories, and cannot even do a Live. Central and every other region BBC and ITV region can do it. Incredibly expensive? Its more the the reporters arnt up to the job to deliver LIVE news, and have to record it because they are soo bad. And me loyalty to Central News? so what are you, a NERD of Midlands Today, who defends them to every possible corner, and nothing can be wrong with them. You need a relaity check mate, and then we will see who has the highest loyalty. No wonder people like you follow the programme, with a low market image and **** looking presenters.
Look who's getting wound up now, just because I quoted something "bad" about Midlands Today. Think carefully in future...

I had to laugh at todays Lunchtime's Midlands Today. The first two stories was suppossed to be "Live", but so obviously wasnt. Cant believe they still do this. And they say that Central's standards are bad. They should be done for portraying stories as Live, when they are not.

I have been left in a dizy state at the end of the late central bully tonight.
Mark Goughs report had the WORST camera work ever - zooming into random for sale signs during his piece to camera, and all together very shakey.

WHAT Central West needs, if you ask me, is some NEW fresh faced YOUNG male presenters!!!!
We don't want to watch a loads of old women all the time! The channel seems over run by women, and old ones at that!
Anyone agree?

Well the truth is Llewella is preparing for her next debut. She's working on features up until the re-launch.
Then she'll be heading up the lunchtime bulletin which will be extended to fit into the new 1 hour news programme from 1230.
And Jo Malin wasn't sacked she's been in Australia on holiday.

i personally think Central's presenting team is fine. It would be nice to see more of Llew but I can't think of any men at Central who could read apart from Darren Little perhaps?
Mark Gough does it occassionally but he is no Bob. The worst example I have seen is Tom Parmenter and Eric Makinnis presenting...they just look odd frankly.
