i thought i'd checkout central newsweek this week - what with all this talk of imminent regional programme quotas, i fear its days maybe numbered!!

anyway, the pleasant surprise is they're not using the itv news music - but the graphics are reminiscent of the yellow blob on blue era.

isn't it fab to hear the 2001 music again after so long Smile

i wonder what the south and east versions look like these days.

Now why the heck didn't ITV use this look? I like the flyovers of the Midlands' landmarks...

The CN studio looks much better in a nice blue now! The christmas tree should be in the middle of the screen!

Bit of WM news now.

This week, Keith Middleton is sitting in for Mollie Green on the Early Show.(So much for guessing Tom Manners! Mind you Mollie did mention Tom at least once so it’s her fault!)

(Caught a bit of the old codger Butler on Monday night, & he took the mick out of her, while talking to a caller!)

I texted Keith a couple of times anonymously, during the first hour, the first message, following on from Keith’s ‘joke’, about having the sex change operation to do the show, which said something along the lines of ‘Are you as mad as Mollie? Don’t mention metal detecting!(Metal detecting being one of Mollie’s hobbies!) Later, mentioning about the caravan Mollie was driving, my reply was ‘Hope WM’s got enough insurance!’

Tuesday's 95.6 Brekky show mentioned about a poster in Birmingham, mentioning you could see things from Manchester from the top of some flats! (Which suggested someone had taken their eye off the ball when putting up the poster!)

Goldie asked what people wanted to see from their window.

One wit said 'Hordes of wilderbeest sweeping majestically across the plain! (Fawlty Towers anyone?), while someone said they could see job cuts, signed BBC employee!(Well it was funny at the time!)

Mike Taylor was sitting in for Franksy on Tuesday.

A look at BBC Radio in the Midlands ‘highlights’, this Christmas & New Year now!

Keith is doing a fair bit of cover work( Do I mean ‘swing shifts’, DJ readers?), over Xmas & New Year, assuming the Radio Times is telling the truth !

He’s on (deep breath!) Wm, Xmas Eve 10pm till 1am & Xmas Day 9pm till 1am Shropshire, Boxing Day 10pm till 1am & Holiday Monday 27 3pm till 6pm, Wm Tuesday 28 9pm till 1am & New Year’s Eve 10pm till 1am.

Other ‘points’ of interest are Jimmy Franks on Wm Late Show 20 – 23 10pm till 1am, Xmas Day 11am till 2pm & 28 6pm till 9pm.

Shabina Akhtar (without the Haley ?) reappears on WM Drivetime 27, 29, 30 & 31 (Why ?), while Mike Taylor sits in on 23 & 24.

Midlands Masala & Tracey’s Jail Mail is transmitted on Monday 27, rather than Friday 24 or 31 !

Malcolm Boyden makes an appearance on Shropshire 6pm Tuesday 28, rather than his usual home on Hereford & Worcester, but ‘Extra Time’ (Malc’s usual show!) is listed for the same time on H&W, so could there be a simulcast then?

Krissi Carpenter’s Xmas Day show on Stoke, Shropshire & H&W, is, according to the RT, is also listed on Suffolk(?) as well! (Shurely shome mistake ?)

i think it might be wise if your parent/guardian typed your posts for you in the future, you seem incapable of typing anything remotely readable.

shefali has been suzanne's deputy for a couple of years now followed by sarah. bbc mids have ALWAYS used male-female pairings since about the year 2000, before which they used to regularly have a 2 females.

tvmercia, I have long-since come to the reasonable conclusion that morgaineofevil is probably genuinely dyslexic, rather than just stupid/idle etc Idea (maybe I should actually ask morgaine? Embarassed ).

Because this might be the case, your above comments are potentially rather unfair/inconsiderate.

I've slagged off people's spelling/grammar before, but it's been obvious that the person's spelling has been generally okay, so the bit I've slagged off is seemmingly stupid/idle. ( Embarassed )

morgaineofevil's writing, on the other hand, has all the hallmarks of dyslexia (it's reminiscent of the way a dyslexic friend from my school days wrote).

So, just think twice before being so nasty, tvmercia. Confused

P.S. Said school friend used to claim to be a member of "The DNA" (The National Dyslexic's Association)! Laughing

Personally, I'd have thought that they'd have put in two trees either side of the screen, just in case they want to use the screen for anything.

There's nothing stopping them having a garland running around the big screen and the plasma's! Though everyone seems to be doing less for Christmas this year.

For some strange reason, Midlands Today have got a new raised section under the desk and sofa, which seems to have no purpose other than to make the presenters look higher. Ever since the move, Midlands Today keep making changes, first they changed the headline bed, then they changed the closing music, then the astons, and now some tweeks to the set. They should leave it as it is.
