Text service for WM ( & other stations) knackered from 5am this morning !

Mollie, after her e-mail to Jeremy Pollock(Keith Beech's No 2!) on Friday, informed us that the heating had been fixed. Instead of freezing cold, it was boiling hot, plus a studio mic had been fixed temporaily with gaffer tape & 'splint' biro !

This caused me to text in to say something along the lines of 'Blimey, you lot have not been there 6 months & the place is already broken!', but what a waste of 10p(see above!) !

Cayte Walker in Walsall, for the first few mins of the Brekky Show, reporting on the 'explosions' overnight !

finally bothered to capture the new, illusive, central ident. not a great fan of it to be honest - bring back the location shots - but it is here for completeness.

Arrow CENTRAL IDENT 2004 - video

notice that the programme it precedes has an advantage west midlands sting before it. do i take it tax payers money was used in the production of this show Confused

I'm not a massive fan of the new idents but I can say it is far better than the region being called "Carlton", "Carlton Central", "ITV1 Carlton for Central England", or "ITV1 for Central England".

At least we get the Central name back of sorts!!!

WM's text service still knackered off & on. (Mind you anyone listening to Goldie's Brekky Show Wednesday around 725am, when he was reading out the texts, I sent an 'anonymous' text in refering to Blunkett, asking whether his guide dog would make a better Home Secretary !)

Mollie's off next week, to drive the Toy appeal bus, so keep off the road Laughing (I think Tom Manners is doing the Early Show instead!)

Jimmy Franks, according to next week's Radio Times, is subbing on the Late Show, apart from one night when Keith Middleton is listed!

Wm are starting to run the MG Rover Super School quiz show, a couple of times a days at the mo!

This Sunday, between 11 & 12, you can hand your toys in live to Doolan at the Mailbox, plus on Saturday, Jenny Wilkes(who's now a 'senior broadcast journalist' according to the Beeb press site!), is at Wolves, while Cayte Walker(I think) is at the Villa, collecting toys.

A bit of advance Xmas prog news now. Xmas Eve between 8 & 10pm is Jenny Wilkes Soul & Motown Special, while Franksy is doing a rock show on New Years Eve between the same times. Franksy, at least, is asking for requests & dedications now, because the show will be recorded just be before Xmas.

I forgot to mention last Sunday, Doolan finally did 'The Other Side Of Sonia Lannaman' (Remember he got duped a few months back!)

A question for Mr B now, seeing he's got a 'friend' at the Beeb !

Listening to 'The Other Side Of Tom Coyne' , a couple of Sundays ago, reminded me of Tom & another MT presenter(The late David Stevens, I think!), doing a Laurel & Hardy spoof !

Does this item still exist in the archives, because I thought they could've used it during the various celabratory progs recently?

must be a quiet news day at the evening mail, hehe - the front page today *exposed* the parking situation at the mailbox.

while i agree with the sentiments of the piece - after all i think its £2.50 to park there for a day, or possibly even free (ive never parked there cos im too lazy Embarassed ) compared with the hefty charges at the council's brunel street multi story or the ridiculous prices in the mailbox itself. mind you i think their "5 minutes away" claim is a bit off - id imagine walking from the door of the carpark to the door of the bbc would be at-least 15 minutes - its no use timing the walk to the front steps of the mailbox.

having a huge, lovely, great, free of charge, carpark at pebble mill was a luxury that you just cant expect these days.

Well that was on the 'all areas' lunchtime edition, that I saw in Walsall earlier, but when I returned later, the Black Country edition was showing something else!

As to what I did inbetween, read on !

I decided to go to Brum on the bus, (951, as it happens!), & I was listening to Gaunty on my pocket radio(yes the prat's back, & he said he had a boil on the bum(again!) ), & he mentioned that the new WM mag had just come out, so off I tootled to the Pillbox & picked one up.

This issue's 'highlights' include :

A listener interview with Gaunty(Poor woman!)

Franksy explaining about his damaged in the Florida hurricane holiday home.

Waddo & Julie visiting the Eden project.

Doolan & wife on the Orient Express.

Pics from Children in Need at the Mailbox, including 'Franksy La Rue' & Danny Kelly bhangra dancing! (Is it my imagination, or is Cayte Walker turning into Julie Mayer's double?. Compare page 18 on the left side, with the blonde holding the yellow mike & the front cover, to see what I mean. Mind you Cayte does look better as a blonde, than her dark haired self of 1998 !)

Interviews with Fiona Dye, Jenny Wilkes, & Angelina Socci(one of the journos), who reveals a talent !

Talking of Waddo & Julie, it looks like I was wrong. They are on next week, as they are interviewing Donny Osmond.

i thought i'd checkout central newsweek this week - what with all this talk of imminent regional programme quotas, i fear its days maybe numbered!!

anyway, the pleasant surprise is they're not using the itv news music - but the graphics are reminiscent of the yellow blob on blue era.

isn't it fab to hear the 2001 music again after so long Smile
