The NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

Not only did I *meet* Midlands Today's Nick Owen today (signing session at Ottakar's bookstore in Coventry), and get my copy of his autobigraphy signed...

But also...

For the benefit of my camcorder-wielding friend Francesco, I effectively *interviewed* Nick Owen!

He was *so* nice - it was just like chatting to a friend! It was only afterwards that it really hit me what had happened!

He must have thought I was a crazed stalker or something. I was there well in advance of Nick's arrival, was first in the queue, and hung around for ages afterwards. I'm surprised the police didn't move me on!

I was wearing a home-made "Bring Back Good Morning With Anne & Nick" T-shirt! I even said "we are SO not worthy" to him at the start of my brief "interview". I must have made a right t*t of myself. But I've had the day of my life.

In fact, I might as well die now, because I've peaked - my life will never equal/better that again!!!!!!

i do hope you got nick talking about the axeing of good morning - its one of his favourite subjects! ive had a flick through his bio and have been tempted, very tempted - but not tempted enough to hand over my £15.99. the inclusion of a photo of su pollard almost made me buy it, but then i imagined how many drinks £16 would buy

I must admit even now BBC Midlands Today has been revamped...I still prefer Central News as a programme.

It seems far more relaxed witha "Family " feel to it. Bob, Jo and Llewella are great presenters with a great deal of experience...God how long has Bob been the Central news anchorman for???

Midlands today is better than it was now it has its new music and studio in the Mailbox but Central News wins hands down in my opinion.

Central news should feature more here!

The Politics Show came from Nottingham again today - is this now a permanent feature?

Well, what I've read of it so far, it seems to be mostly about his media life, rather than his life in general. I'm still barely at the TV-am satge of the book, but I'm hoping for a good b*tch about the axeing of Good Morning! Hell, that was half the reason for me buying the bio!

Will never forget that programme "Rise and fall of Breakfast TV" I think - charting the likes of Frank Bough, Selina Scott, Richard Keys etc etc, and of course Anne and Nick on TV-am.

It went on to look at Anne and Nick on Good Morning, I remember it had a BBC exec at the time saying "Good Morning with Anne and Nick had poor ratings and was axed" and then it just cut to Nick saying to camera "Bollocks!"

Great stuff!!

tonight, suzanne accidently said "(for getname) will be bringing us on a canal tour of the mad lands" then she corrected herself. then nick says "from us all here on madlands today, goodbye" then they closed with everyone laughing!!

Quick reminder for those of you able get to Walsall on Wednesday morning, because Nick's down at Ottakers, signing his book between 10 & 12.

A certain Mr S.Collymore is scheduled to appear on Thursday there too, to sign his book, but after seeing today's Daily Mirror, I bet he'll cry off at the last minute !

Any idea why the TV in the WM radio studio would have access to Sky News, as mentioned by Mollie this morning?

I would've thought the Beeb would've 'fixed' the telly, to only show BBC output !
