Anyone see former Central News East/Central Weekend presenter Anna Soubry on PMQ's this week.

She's now the MP for Broxtowe(whereever that is?).

(And a Tory as well! She's gone down in my estimation, along with Seb Coe & Kirstie Allsop!)

It is an area of north Nottingham.

The Broxtowe Estate is in the north of Nottingham: However the Borough of Broxtowe, to which Anna Soubry's consistuency is equal (less Eastwood and Brinsley), is to the west of the city. It encompasses the towns of Beeston and Stapleford. Broxtowe was a former hundred in Nottinghamshire.

You'll sleep easy tonight knowing that Wink

You're not wrong there. Wink

Hmmm.

As the various afternoon football shows have been dropped due to the crap weather, BBC Local Radio in the Midlands(certainly WM, H & W, Shropshire & Stoke!) have dropped into snow mode. (Richard Wilford & John Platt doing a sterling job from the Mailbox for WM currently.)

As regards our commercial friends, despite all being part of the same group(Orion Media), Beacon is doing it's own thing, BRMB & Gold Birmingham are together(Tom Ross?), but Gold Wolverhampton is taking the network show(David Jensen?).

How come Gold Wolverhampton can't link with Beacon if BRMB & Gold Brum are together?

There will be changes to the radio schedule tomorrow where there would've been coverage of West Bromwich Albion v Wolves as that match has been cancelled.

I assume Beacon was due to do its own thing anyway with Wolves playing tomorrow. This would explain Gold sticking to Network too as to simulcast Beacon at this time would be out of place completely.

Tom Ross was supposed to be commentating on the Coventry game for Mercia (which he did plug on air as it was still going ahead) but instead ended up anchoring a hybrid sports/snow-watch programme on BRMB.

I assume the opt for Gold Birmingham was originally set up to cover both Blues and Villa games, hence continuing the simulcast. They were only playing Christmas songs occasionally in between calls from stranded motorists and football items. Wouldn't Gold normally stick to network if only one of those teams were playing?

Don't know as the only time I normally catch Gold is at work, when it's the 'national' service.

I heard a rumour the Monday to Friday local opt out has moved to the early evenings running 6 till 10, encompassing the footy phone in & the footy coverage, with a local music show on the non footy days.

Is this right & is it a simulcast between Gold Wolves, Brum & Coventry, or separate services? I suspect simulcast personally.

I assume BBC WM taking 5 Lives coverage of the Sports Personality Of The Year is just because it's in Brum.

It's not a late replacement for Satnam is it?

Good job my 'remark' on the Facebook site was minor, not worth mentioning in the report!

That report is quite frankly absurd, it was clearly meant in jest rather than a literal comparison! Some people would use any minor comment to bash the BBC eh!

Des Coleman used to play Lenny in East Enders, he is very annoying as a weather guy.

He certainly did. Also a bit of a crooner too.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYo1wrXLbRE

I don't rate him highly as a weather forecaster though. I have nothing against him as a person, but to me he seems ill-suited as a weather-presenter, he gives the impression that he only has a tenuous idea what he's talking about (especially if you compare him with Sara Blizzard).

I think he's much better as a reporter on BBC EMT, he also does a good job on One Show too.
