Normally it's either Genelle or Ben doing the local Midlands Today update on Saturday lunchtime, but today Jackie Kabler did the whole lot.

(As a point of interest Genelle & Ben also appear on the WM Saturday Breakfast Show to do the weather as well. Today Sara Blizzard did the honours. (Isn't she East Midlands?)).

And in case you wondering, yes Mollie is still mad! I don't regulary listen thesedays, but she was having a natter to Goldie, who was trailling his show, & they briefly mentioned faux pas. Goldie mentioned a girl who he said to her, 'Have you split coffee down your leg? No it's a birthmark!' & Mollie replied with one she had mentioned on the Early Show a few years back when Sarah Faulkland asked her was she pregnant? Our Mol was a bit of a porker a few years back ISTR. She says she has slimmed down since. (Bad as my sister I think personally!)

Also the 'art' of cake making was discussed. (She made a Bakewell Tart for her hubby, who spat it out! Poor *******, on so many levels!)

If you're in Wolves today & tomorrow, the Beeb have taken over an empty shop in the Mander Centre(Wonder if The Wolf's noticed?) to show a display connected with the current 'Turn Back Time - High Street' series.

Maybe just a coincidence, but in EYorks&Lincs, Emma Massey (presenter) read the weather on lunchtime Look North. Keeley Donovan was in wok as doing the local radio weather updates

EDIT - just read that the bulletin was squeezed to one minute. I literally walked in as weather just starting. So that explains it

Sara Blizzard did the weather in vision at teatime.

If she is East Midlands, did she prerecord from Nottingham or did she come over especially to Brum.

Would I be correct in thinking this used to be one of Doolan's experts?

He used to appear on the late show too IIRC.

She's been on EMT most this week, so I suspect it was a pre-record

Those of you who read the 'Express & Star' in the West Midlands may have seen a report tonight about Walsall's cuts in services, in relation to their Christmas lights switch on.

(We normally get in common with other councils the odd X Factor / Britain's Got Talent refugee!)

Due to the financial crisis, WM's Danny Kelly has reportedly offered his services for a couple of pints of Stella!

Westy, do you know if Tammy Gooding is just sitting in for Joanne Malin next week or if she is a permanent signing at the BBC?

First I've heard of it, as work has 'other stations' on. (Admittedly when I was 'in exile' just over a year ago after I did my foot in, because I couldn't get up the stairs, I was able to have my own choice of stations on but avoided Malin like the plague!)

I'd be very surprised if Jo's leaving.

I suspect she's just occasional cover, like Charlie Jordan was.

Anyone know where Charlie has ended up, in fact any ex Smooth jocks since they went national?
Is Carlos' missus still working at Central as last I heard she was 'up the duff'?

Talking of Jo, as she's doing the Children in Need stuff this year, Mollie said last Saturday that she was covering today's (Friday) show.

(Note to self - As you have the day off today, resist temptation to go to BBC Birmingham & take the piss!)

I wondered if perhaps there was a shuffle of the schedule coming. While the website schedule shows Steve Dyson in for Ed Doolan next week, it doesn't say anything different about Joanne's show.

As mentioned before, Jo Malin is the host for BBC Children In Need in the West Midlands tonight live from Coventry.

Those of you who subscribe to BBC WM's Facebook page will find a picture of Mollie with a wallaby!

Nadine Towell doing Saturday lunchtime MT, with Sally Pepper (Is she EMT too?) providing the forecast.

Mike Collie to do the teatime bulletin, says Nadine.

(I guess Sally Pepper did the local radio bulletins too, where one is normally done by Ben or Genelle? Wonder why Simon Keeling wasn't asked to cover some of the weekday stuff? Is it cheaper this way now? Does MT return the favour for EMT?)
