On a separate note, is there not a rule saying you have to place the BBC logo a certain way?

Confused

There is indeed - there are clear and "strict" rules concerning the use of the BBC logo on the internal BBC website, though it seems that even the very same department that came up with the rules also break them frequently: take BBC Billboard advertising - where the BBC logo is shown rotated through 90 degrees on the far side of the poster...

If the mailbox had rotaed the |B|B|C| in a similar way it wouldn't have looked too bad IMO, but to keep the letters the right way up, but stack them one on top of the other seems very, very wrong!

I would agree but in reality, the front of the BBCs public space looks very different to the graphic and there is no such logo,...

Ahh ... penny drops ... I see - that's an artist's impression isn't it !

Still, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the BBC logo was treated in such a way, because as I mentioned above, the very depratment that made the rules seems to break them at will anyway! I have to say that I've been terribly impressed with MT since their move... far fewer technical problems are apparent on-air than I'd imagined.

In real life, the BBC logo has been 90° rotated properly, like the billboards. If I remember right, this is "correct" in BBC Pres' eyes, as long as it is exactly 90°. What some billboards and programmes do do "wrong" though is texturise the BBC logo (like Top of The Pops).

Good to see the mess ups have continued despite moving to Europe's most technologically advanced newsroom .....

They obviously record the headlines (they've got rid of *that* sound effect by the way) and well they must have shown the one that Suzanne made a mistake on, "errrm sorry let's do that again...." then crash to the studio (live) no music, you can hear the camera squeeking then Nick has to apologise for "the techno problem"

So there I was thinking how great it was that they changed the opening title tag and it hit me they've played out the wrong set of titles!!!

Shocked

A squeeky camera move later and it was live in the studio...

Oh dear...P45's in the post.

One question spings to mind why on earth was the camera that squeeky, some oil should do the trick. And thank god for the lovely Susan Verdi that it wasn't one of those pre-recorded swearing incidents.

Have you also noticed that the sound on Nick sounds a bit odd aswell a bit tinny? It's been like that all week - strange though that Suzanne's sounds fine.... Confused

It was even better than most of the mistakes that we used to get at Pebble Mill. I think they tried to play out the titles, but instead we got 'Now Midlands Today...' Shame really - I was hoping to see if they had produced a fourth set of titles.

Some of my 'random jottings'

Wednesday 27/10 - Following the sacking of Gary Megson from West Bromwich Albion, Adrian Goldberg could be found outside The Hawthorns, for the 95.6 Brekky Show, or rather on the McDonalds car park opposite.

MT also found Steve Clamp at a pub in West Bromwich as well.

The past couple of days also found 'classic' Radio 1 jocks paying tribute to John Peel.

Among those appearing on various WM shows were Bruno Brookes(I think?) & Adrian Juste.

Sameena Ali Khan is in for Franksy until 2/11, but today (28/10), she had been taken ill, & Richard Wilford, from 95.6 Brekky, was sitting in. He was still at the Pillbox by 9pm tonight, as part of the 'Fools Panel' section of Daz Hale's Sportsnight prog!

('Wilf' is also sitting in for Goldie for 2 weeks apparantly from 1/11. Whether this means Goldie will do the Politics Show during that period, I don't know!)

While Julie's away, Waddo's been accompanied, at least this week, by someone called Debbie Massey!(No I've never heard of her either!)

Was that the first major cock up tonight, since the move ?

Diverting onto ITV1, for a change, is it me, or is Leeds doing a better job with Central, than what we all thought they would do ?

(I was expecting black screens & wrong idents, but I'm obviously looking at the wrong times !)

well it wouldn't have felt right to have had a cockup free verson of MT would it?

ANother slight cock-up tonight - we got the network ident with no sound, and the Midlands Anouncement over the top, and then the 18:00 headline had no video, and was just Nick sitting on the sofa. Could the server have crashed, and is stopping them playing out any video?
