I notice Matt Teale making a welcome (IMO) return to Central News yesterday, as anchor

I noticed him out reporting earlier this week.

I know he covered Prince Charles's visit to Nottingham and Leicester, was it that story?

No Central News for us today at lunchtime, had to make do with the London headlines.

In case you haven't heard, there is a Midlands Today special on Sunday at 1025pm on BBC One, reviewing the Pope's visit to the Midlands earlier that day.(Bearing in mind, the regional bulletin, according to the SKY EPG, is scheduled for 1015pm, would MT run all the way through from 1015 to 1110, missing out the national weather, or do the normal bulletin, opt back for the national weather, then opt again for the rest of the programme?)

As for our 'friends' at WM

http://www.bbc.co.uk/wm/programmes/schedules/2010/09/19

& Comedy & Warwickshire

http://www.bbc.co.uk/coventry/programmes/schedules/2010/09/19

Notable on the schedule is that both stations will not go to 5Live Saturday into Sunday, instead getting a shared overnight show with Shane O'Connor, as the pilgrims arrive at Cofton Park.

WM appear to be with the Pope all day, while C & W take a break in the afternoon for Liz Kershaw(didn't realise she was still going?) & a 'Pick Of The Week' type programme, before rejoining WM for the Pope's departure with Bob Brolly(who would be on air normally anyway!) & Flupton! (I say it's a first chance for C & W to 'experience' the Flupton phenomenion, but 'Midlands Today', 'Inside Out' Fart sorry Heart FM & possibly BRMB have already given C & W a taster of Flup!

If I tune in, it's from a presentation point of view not religious!

Dunno about today's lunchtime edition, but today's teatime short edition of MT only had one story really, all about the Pope. (Plus the weather & one brief football story!)

What was strange was that Michael Collie presented it from the Hagley Road in Edgbaston(presumbly near to where the Pope will be tomorrow), but what was the point for a less than 5 min bulletin?

(By the way, would I be correct in thinking there's no point coming to Brum tomorrow, to do any shopping etc, seeing the Pope's in town, with extra security knocking about etc?)

Blimey, Keith Middleton's requested me as a friend on Facebook Shocked (Not the other way round like Danny Kelly

(I only made a comment on Wm's Facebook about having to miss the 1st hour of the Sunday show on WM & asking if we missed anything important! Of course they mentioned 'You can listen to the entire show on IPlayer' plus I know you can listen on the other stations too!)

Going back to the MT Pope special, apart from a comment on the other thread refering to a possible continuity / EPG **** up, Genelle's dad, Bishop Joe Aldred is on too!

Hmm. Interesting.

Anyway, did anyone see today's Brum Mail?

Alas I don't have a pic from anywhere online, but if you know what Goldie looks like, then use your imagination!

Wonder if he's had any stick from his colleagues?

strange to see janelle doing the 12pm midlands today news update from the big screen and then also the weather forcast between vts getting rid of her script and gaining her weather clicker

never seen her do the news before, very good she was

she went on to say we'll be back without next bulletin at 520 but with jacky

I wonder if she had to fill in and present the bulletin at the last minute

That's a regular thing on Saturday lunchtimes where either Genelle Aldred or Ben Rich(the other 'junior'(for want of a better word!) weather forecaster) does that bulletin as it's a shortish bulletin. (I think Ben has been off this week as I haven't seen him, plus there has been more breakfast weather bulletins courtesy of London than normal!)(Either Genelle or Ben will appear roughly 830am Saturdays on BBC WM to give out a forecast as well.)

The other short bulletins are normally presented by the usual suspects, plus Shefali normally reads the news on Sundays too, which is why she never appears on Fridays now.

We know Genelle's dad is a presenter on BBC WM, but is Ben Rich any relation to the guy that used to do the BBC South West weather a few years back?

Andy Marr coming from the Mailbox 'second set', as the Tories are in town!

(Second set is the bit they use for the Midlands Politics Show & when the main MT studio is out of action)
