After nearly a month's hiatus, a post on this thread!(even if it's refering to my favourite subject!)
David Cameron(you know the posh bloke who runs the country!) is making an appearance on the WM Doolan show tomorrow & you can call in (supposedly!) too. (You know the usual ways, 08453 009956, email, text, which of course is now 81333, starting your message with 'WM' !)
Various people have been off (Doolan, Flupton, Franksy) & a few have moved slots to cover(Hale(definetely),Wilford & Gurney (I think) & the odd outside cover (Shane O'Connor & Elliott Webb, who, according to Digital Spy, has also been spotted on 'Signal 1', whatever that is?).
(I must admit, that there will be less updates from me re WM now, as I've finished my 'exile ' from my office buddies, due to my accident last year(small matter of doing my metatarsal in nearly a year ago!) but bossman has decided to bring me back from the cold back upstairs, which means no more WM. Currently it's the 'Wilf', sorry 'The Wolf' & 'Absolute 80's'! Must admit re The Wolf, Dicky Dodd did take time off last week & covering was another 'old voice' from the 90's Beacon Wabc days, Dave Myatt!)
Signal 1 is one of the UTV owned radio stations. Elliott Webb was doing their network evening shift last week, so he turned up rather randomly on The Pulse in Bradford, where he and Debbie Lindley of YTV weather used to do breakfast ("Elliott Webb and Deb") the best part of 20 years ago!
Tonight's MT had Bob Hockenhull at Alum Rock, reporting live on the Pakistani murders & Ian Winter live at Villa Park, to report & take reaction on the news that Martin O'Neil has quit Aston Villa 5 days before the start of the new Premier League. (For the benefit of non football fans, this season there are 5 West Mids teams in the top flight, as apart from Villa, there's Birmingham, Wolves, Stoke, with West Brom rejoining after a season away...again!)
BBC WM's Football Phone In returned for a new season tonight & the Villa is the only subject. Richard Wilford is presenting & the phone in will continue after 8pm until everyone's had their say.
BBC WM's Managing Editor Keith Beech made an appearance on Wednesday's Doolan show to take calls & comments from the listeners.
(Still available on IPlayer at time of writing!)
WM's 40th anniversary celabrations continue with a special programme on Monday 'BBC WM - The First 40 Years', between 12 & 1, which was trailed after a report on Friday's MT from Lindsey Doyle featuring old behind the scenes clips featuring the 'usual suspects' (Doolan, Ross & Butler) with Ed & Les being briefly interviewed along with Flupton. (Well it wouldn't be a report on WM without Phil making an appearance!)
There was also the chance to see 'dodgy' pics of Nick Owen circa 1973, with Jackie Kabler(ex GMTV), one of this week's co presenters standing in for Suzanne, commenting on Nick's 'kiss curl' !
Also noted on air that Ian Winter & Lindsey Doyle were mentioned as being ex WM too! (Ian was the sports editor back in the 90's while Lindsey was presumbly a journo. (Wasn't she at Beacon at some point too? Sure I remember Ian Perry mentioning it?)
Talking of Flupton, he now has a 'rival' in the bike riding for charity, as BBC Hereford & Worcester's breakfast guy Howard Bentham was out 'across the 2 counties' (I can do branding! LOL ) collecting plus doing the show on the road as well! (More on their website!)
Meanwhile 'The Good Doctor's missus & 'Maisie the labrador's owner' presented her show live from Weston Super Mare on Wednesday(Mollie covered the show on Tuesday!)

Lindsay should have used "At the heart of the nation, it's your favourite station - Radio WM, Yeah!" in her package, so much better than what she used.

Strange she used a regional Midlands BBC style jingle rather than a specific WM jingle.
(They don't use those now do they when they go regional! A little bit of jiggery pokery gets you individual station news jingles, but not individual travel jingles (BBC Local Radio In The Midlands Travel!))
By the way, Goldie off today. Phil Gayle standing in.
(Mollie gave it a brief mention this morning before going on to talk about potatoes!(I know!))
Surely it's all bollocks? I gather she had a cameo in Corrie recently, according to the Emma Jesson forum.
No other tabloid seems to have taken it up (Well The Sun & The Mirror online anyway!).
Is 'Dirty Des' talking out of his **** then?
Quick reminder, Danny at 9am today, sitting in for 'The Good Doctor's missus', 40 Years of WM with Janice Long at 12, then Brett Birks(he of 'Introducing' fame(not that I listen of course!) at 1, talking about UFO's & aliens & things apparantly! (Must admit can't think of a witty comment involving that & Mollie at the moment, as it's too early!)
