The NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

Bit of BBC Birmingham / WM related news now, kicking off with this one :

As probably mentioned before, Adrian Goldberg returns to WM in July to present a weekly show on Saturday mornings(The old Gaunt slot, latterly Janice Long!), but this week he's covering Flupton while he's off on another bike ride.

(Mind the radio goes over at 930 to Absolute 80's, to avoid that silly cow!)

Sorry for it being in the West Midlands thread, but I couldn't find one for the East and didn't think it warranted a thread of it's own but does Des Coleman still do the weather for East Midlands Today?

I keep seeing him popping up on different things (GMTV and The David Dickinson Show off the top of my head) as one of those people that gives their views on things in the papers nobody cares about.

Probably gone freelance to leave him free to show around his variety of er skills ?


EMT has oodles of weather talent anyway, though I think Des will occasionally do the odd slot for them as he has been doing in past months.

Des is still on EMT presenting the weather as part of the breakie bulletins last week! I am a big fan of his - 'catch you later'

Nor does he talk about pic-nic baskets

He certainly he talent as presenter and 'personality', but I don't rate him highly as weather-presenter-- I like his slots on the One Show though.

EMT Weather presenters other than Des: Sara Blizzard, Anna Church, Nicola Beswick and Sally Pepper.

Des Coleman was waving his arms - sorry - presenting the weather today on EMT, from the canalside just a short distance away from BBC Nottingham.

Despite yours truly pointing it out on the MT FaceBook site & it being changed for a few weeks, the regional data for The Politics Show has reverted, on SKY at least, back to being presented by Jon Sopel & Sarah Faulkland, despite Sarah no longer presenting for sometime.

Did anyone spot the delibrate mistake with the 'Coming Up caption locally inserted over the network show?

What's this about the BBC Local Radio Text Numbers changing then? The old folks will have fun remembering to prefix the new 5 figure number with the station name let alone us young un's!

Well I tried out the new WM text number with Mad Mollie on Saturday(I just happened to be awake!) & it worked!

Back to today & the scouse slaphead (Danny Kelly) is asking for opinions on Rooney's comment at the end of the match. (He refered to Rooney as petulant)

At least one texter reckoned it was sour grapes on Kelly's part, as DK supports Everton & Wayne was an Everton player until he joined United.

Ginner meanwhile is working on a 40th anniversary doc for WM, so he's not on with DK at the mo. (He's also suffering from sunburn apparantly too!)

(Back to work for yours truly tomorrow too!)

Are any other BBC Local Stations doing similar to the following tomorrow?

WM is taking the England match feed (presumbly 5Live?) with local input during Danny's & Franksy's show. (Yep. they're sending out a roving reporter too!)

Spare a thought for 'Midlands Today' (& all regional progs too!) as they're too busy preparing tomorrow's show to watch the match, says Nick!

Is Mary Rhodes now a permanent cover presenter on MT or is it just while 'Inside Out' is off air?

(Surprised they haven't worked out a deal with WM for Jo Malin?)
