I think a lot of (possibly all) local radio stations chose to stay local for the whole night. It might be only an extra 4 hours but it requires a lot of people to really make it justifiable. A few phono reporters in some of the key counts and a carefully planned radiocar itinerary for a few quality lives can make the output sound extremely good however and really justify the whole thing. Occasionally some of these radio people will also provide material for regional television opts, either on the night or for the next day's main programmes on BBC 1.
