East Midlands Today refresh ?

Any TV Forum Members in the know of any possible East Midlands Today refresh or have they already had one ?
...
Please accept my apologies if I have posted this Message in the wrong thread, I can't seem to see a thread on East Midlands Today, Once again if there is an East Midlands thread I am sorry.

I think they had one last year, changing the backdrop of Trent Bridge to the current view of the Nottingham skyline.

I suppose technically this is the 'wrong' thread for BBC EMT. There was a Central News East/BBC EMT thread, but it was so rarely contributed to, it's probably archived now: Given that Central News East has now merged with West, and BBC EMT is rarely discussed (when it has been recently, it's been on this one)-- you may as well post it here [shrug].

PS: Speaking of Central, Matt Teale was back doing a report (confer the ITV London thread)

Caught Jo Malin this morning(well had it on as background while I was working. Couldn't be arsed retuning!) & she's got the day off tomorrow apparantly.

Covering her will be 'former weather girl' Charlie Neil, she said.

While it'll be nice to hear Charlie again(Let's hope she's better than Malin?), I'm intrigued none of the usual cover presenters have been used lately on WM.

For example, when Franksy was off, you got Mike Taylor from WM Sport or Jimmy Franks & Mollie used to cover Jo Malin & / or Danny Kelly. Even Phil Gayle stood in for Flupton last time, instead of Daz Hale.(I suspect Daz was actually off that time himself?)

Thesedays you get the likes of Elliott Webb & Zippy & Bungle, sorry Jim & George.

On Danny Kelly's Facebook page, there was a lot of negative comment re Jim & George.

Talking of our 'favourite' Scouse afternoon presenter, he's now launched 'Dansaphone' where you can leave messages for some reason. (What's the betting that will get hijacked by 'listeners' anti certain presenters, so will get dropped?)

0121 567 6026, if anyone's bothered.

MT had their election command centre set ready for Patrick Burns! (shame it was a CSO set made in SketchUp).

Where is the 'CSO' set at BBC Birmingham anyway?

Pat Burns now featuring on 'The Campaign Show' on the News Channel at the mo, so he's being seen nationally.

Stopping with the election coverage, can I make a prediction for BBC WM's own Election Night presenter?

My money's on Franksy, because they won't get Doolan for health reasons, plus he can still do his lunch time show.

Flupton, definetely not, so he'll do breakfast as usual. Jo Malin, along with Flupton & Steve Dyson, I'll suspect they'll use for debates mainly on the road(if there's any?) with Doolan doing any Mailbox based debates.
(Make a change from Jo discussing diet, dancing, Maisie the dog & the 'Good Doctor' for a change!)

(Of course, Franksy has done previous election coverage, plus they could always get Elliott Webb into cover for Drive for a couple of days, with Mark Regan covering the Friday Football Phone In, if that's still going at that point!)

(Can you honestly see any of the other presenters on the station doing this sort of thing? Mollie has already stated in the past, while she liked Tony Blair, she's not keen on Gordon Brown! As for Danny Kelly, nooo way!)

Well there are 3 possibles. The DTL CSO (which is round the corner from the studio, in a small, cramped office with a scotchlite/LED rig), used for news channel things, the MT studio screens using a green image (used occasionally on the 8pm and used for signing), or there's the public space camera/scotchlite.

Nick live from Gaydon tonight. Use of a Live DOG on the headline inset was interesting, not seen it done before.
Anyone else noticed the lack of transitions during headlines? They'll use it on the national/regional recap at the end of the 6.30. I think their hardware might be changing soon.
