Nice cameo of VALID on Midlands Today (the late bulletin). Two of the newsroom computers started showing it simultaneously before flicking between the Midlands Today studio monitor logos and title endboards.

Late Kick Off - That's the other side of the studio isn't it?

And some nicked MT chairs too!

Christ on a bike, 'The Chavage' is on too!

No, it's the weather rear-project screen, if you look it has silver edges, the other still has red edges.

That picture ain't showing up.

Anyway, bit of BBC WM news.

Jo Malin is off for a couple of weeks, being covered by 'Our Mol' (Gawd help us!)

I did text in this morning, to ask her if she'd seen this week's 'Inside Soap, as Sarah Manners was in there(Interview as part of joining 'The Bill'!). No she hadn't. (She & Sarah were school chums!)

Doolan had a day off for a quack appointment on Tuesday, being covered by Phil Gayle.

Tomorrow's Doolan show has the 'long awaited appearence', in Digital Spy's opinion, of Keith Beech, WM's managing editor, to take your calls & comments on the station.

(There was a time he used to appear after every RAJAR, but ever since his return from Tibet, his appearences have been sporadic!)

Anyone hear of a phobia that involves being frightened of stickers! WM journo Louisa Lewis suffers from it!

Someone's emailed Danny Kelly about the WM Digital Spy thread.

(Someone pointed out about Janice Long's sidekick being a halfwit. Said halfwit is Ginner apparantly!)

DK's refered to at least one of the DS posters that he should get a life! Laughing

The BBC WM Wolverhampton DAB transmitter feed has been playing up all week, with a loud 'scratching' noise on the audio.

The engineers are supposed to be aware of the problem, as several people reported it on Doolan's show on Monday while the TV & Aerials bloke was having his phone in!

(I've reported it 3 times so far this week, via Franksy, Flupton & Doolan, but looks like the engineers are finding it a bit difficult, as it still ain't fixed! Been on FM most of the week, which is bad as my work setup is **** on FM at the best of times!)

Don't suppose any of our BBC Birmingham related friends(if there are any?) are looking in & ask the engineers what's going on, could they?

Bad news, Jo Malin's back on Monday, after 2 weeks off(Conviently during those 2 weeks, she got a lot of stick on the Doolan Keith Beech phone in, as well as Digital Spy!

(Wonder if the 'Good Doctor' & Maisie the dog had a good time?)

Time for me to retune back to Smooth in the mornings then!

She's back & she said 'Now where did I go for my holiday? Contact me if you want to guess!'

I've got the day off today, so my reaction was to switch off & go down Walsall for a couple of hours as I couldn't give a flying **** !

(Tomorrow, when I go back to work it's back to Mark Goodier!)

Looks like WM's engineers have fixed the DAB problem. (Took them about a week!)

Edit : Danny Scouser's just announced that the Wolverhampton DAB transmitter is going off for 10 mins around 330pm for essential maintence! About bloody time IMHO!

Edit : DAB never went down at all!(And I was listening on Wolves!). Tonight's 'Late Kick Off Midlands' will feature a glimpse of Franksy circa 1990 for some reason. (Connected with guest David Kelly(ex footballer of these parts!) apparantly)

BBC WM Sport have gone hell for leather today with Aston Villa's trip to Wembley against Man United for the League Cup Final, with the likes of Franksy, Rego, Gurney, Wheeler, plus Big Ron Atkinson involved in the coverage.

Of course, you can watch BBC One & press the Red Button, to get a choice of commentaries, including TV, 5Live & local radio(Wm & Manchester).

Bearing in mind WM started their coverage at 10am, with build up & talking to fans etc, looking at the BBC Manchester schedule, they haven't appeared to have gone to the same extent, instead starting at 2pm instead.

Wonder why?

I gather tomorrow on BBC Local Radio there's a debate at 10am on the Local Authority Cuts around the country.

Assuming these are localised for each station, does that mean Ms Malin's doing it, as it's technically during her show?

Because so few Man United fans actually live in Radio Manchester's patch? Laughing

MT will be live from Wembley, should be interesting.

Franksy's saying theres problems with the Red Button commentary & the engineers are looking at it.

Strange. I've been listening via the Red Button since kick off.

Perhaps I'm lucky? (Makes a bloody change!)

Interesting, the way they advertised it one would think the whole bulletin would have been presented from Wembley.
